About Aim for the Uprights: The Intentional Playbook for Success in Faith, Family, and Business by Stu Crum
College football success does not always portend big business victories. Yet placekicker Stu Crum rode a boyhood ambition to the boardrooms of the world’s biggest corporations and private equity firms.
In Aim for the Uprights, Crum shares telling episodes of a life shaped by personal convictions, his burgeoning faith, and his unique partnership with the love of his life, his wife, Mia.
In three sections—“Game On,” “Game Changer,” and “Late Game Score”—the author also reveals his simple yet profound playbook that is appropriate for readers of all backgrounds, both professional and cultural.
“Game On” highlights the early stages of Crum’s development as an affable but determined athlete who admits some of his big dreams were improbable—until they came true. Herein, he introduces a minicamp for rookies, men and women, who have not yet experienced the benefits of intentional living.
“Game Changer” finds Crum fighting the adversity of a crushing heartbreak that tested his faith and physical injuries that haunted his career in the NFL and USFL. After his business acumen grew Down Under, he expanded his leadership reach to Central and South America, where bodyguards and tropical family vacations became an acquired taste. But when Mia was threatened with a terminal illness, love of family took on a luster and depth money can’t buy.
Fortunately, for Crum, life begins at 60 in “Late Game Score,” where he takes a leap from corporate rewards to private equity risks that can, and do, lead to a “life-changing” event. Not the end of his remarkable story.
