Interview With Author Alecia Hill
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Alecia Hill, an author, life coach, and consecrated servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. My passion is helping people rise from adversity and discover purpose through faith. I’ve written several books, including Lost in the Shadows: Finding Strength in the Depth of Adversity, Single, Celibate, and Saved, Thriving in Celibacy, and the From Shadows to Light Work Journal, which is a guided resource for healing, reflection, and spiritual growth.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
One of my most recent releases is the From Shadows to Light Work Journal. It was inspired by my personal journey of overcoming trauma, emotional battles, and seasons of invisibility. I wanted to create a hands-on tool to help others process their own journeys from pain to purpose—giving them space to write, pray, and reflect as they come out of their own shadows into the light of God’s truth.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes—before I write, I pray and sometimes fast. I often write in the stillness of the early morning when I can clearly hear the Holy Spirit. I also keep post-it notes and journals scattered everywhere because inspiration often comes in pieces, and I believe those are divine downloads.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stormie Omartian, Joyce Meyer, and Priscilla Shirer have been major influences. Their boldness and transparency inspire me to write unapologetically and truthfully. T.D. Jakes’ storytelling style and Maya Angelou’s poetic voice have also shaped my expression.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I’m expanding the From Shadows to Light Work Journal into a coaching program and support group. I’m also developing teaching materials for my Thriving in Celibacy workshops, designed to empower men and women to honor their bodies, renew their minds, and walk in freedom.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media—especially Facebook and LinkedIn—have been powerful platforms for sharing my work and engaging with my audience. I also promote through Divine Transformation events and podcast appearances. My author pages on Amazon and media features on networks like TBN and CBN help build visibility as well.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes—write your truth. Don’t try to sound like someone else. Your story, told your way, has power. Invest in quality editing, pray over your writing, and treat your book like a ministry, not just a product.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write from your scars, not your wounds.” That taught me to wait until I had processed the pain so I could write with clarity and wisdom instead of raw emotion. It also reminded me that healing brings perspective
What are you reading now?
Write from your scars, not your wounds.” That taught me to wait until I had processed the pain so I could write with clarity and wisdom instead of raw emotion. It also reminded me that healing brings perspective
I’m reading The Deborah Anointing by Michelle McClain-Walters and Healing the Soul of a Woman by Joyce Meyer. I’m always seeking content that helps me grow as a leader, woman of God, and healer of hearts.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Next, I’m looking to publish a devotional companion to From Shadows to Light, launch a podcast, and offer workshops in schools, churches, and women’s ministries. I also plan to expand into faith-based mental health tools and curriculum for overcoming adversity.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The Bible – The ultimate guide and comfort.
2. From Shadows to Light Work Journal – So I can keep writing and reflecting.
3. Healing the Soul of a Woman by Joyce Meyer – For continued strength.
4. Becoming by Michelle Obama – To stay inspired by resilience and grace.
