Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Alex. I’m 26 and was born in Belgium. I decided to quit my job the day after Valentine’s day to pursue my goals, which was becoming a bestselling author on Amazon and getting my fight career launched. I’m living that life right now in Koh Phangan (Thailand). I’ve written 2 books so far but only my second book is available on Amazon (for now).
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title of my book is: “The Year Of The Alpha: 366 Lessons On Adding Meaning To Your Life”. This book idea was an accident, to be honest. I shared a lot of personal quotes and people started to react to it. I decided to bundle my quotes into a book with the proper explanation.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t have weird habits that I know of. I like to shadowbox as a break during writing sessions and I never write without a good cup of coffee.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Ryan Holiday and Mark Manson influenced me a lot. Especially Mark Manson because he had a blog post about how he quit his job and became a bestselling author.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m promoting my book and training a lot because I’ll be fighting soon. I try to write blog posts in between training sessions to relax. There are no new book ideas at the moment.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best method is probably contacting people or websites with a large audience. That’s how I got a lot of exposure rather quickly.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep on writing no matter what. My first book release failed drastically because I didn’t promote it properly. I could have quite back then but I didn’t. Right now my second book is doing a lot better. It’s all about not giving up.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Book the ticket, take the trip. I read this quote just before I quit my job and traveled to Thailand. I’ll be staying here for 3 months and it was the best thing that I ever did.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading “The Lost Art Of Discipline” by Chad Howse. I highly recommend this book.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now I’m focusing on the blog again. There are no new book ideas at the moment because my focus is on fighting right now. We’ll see what happens when I return to Belgium. I might write a book about how I quit my job, traveled to Thailand, became a bestseller on Amazon and got some fights. It sounds like a book that I would read.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Mediations, The Art Of War, The Book Of Five Rings and The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People.
