Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A little over a decade ago, I was in an accident which left me in a hospital for months and in recovery for years. I developed a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and had lots of troubles with memory loss, seizures and cognitive functions. During my journey back I developed a love for reading even though it was exponentially harder (and slower) after my accident. A Lonely Aura of Justice is my first book and is a personal triumph that I am honored to share with my readers.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I didn’t expect to be an author, I was writing for me and me alone. I wrote a few vignettes, a few short stories, some over-indulgent diary entries and organically they all evolved into a coherent story. Once that story developed, I became excited to polish and share my adventure.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I didn’t grow up appreciating books, I went through almost a decade after school practically illiterate. Before my accident I was a good reader, I just didn’t care for it. It wasn’t until reading became a struggle that I found my passion. With my memory it’s hard for me to remember the specific books that influenced me, but the book that was most responsible was Jurassic Park. It wasn’t my favorite book, but it was the first one I read and actually understood after my accident.
What are you working on now?
A Lonely Aura of Justice was a wonderful experience but it was long and emotionally draining. I am experimenting with some lighter (to me) genres and different styles to expand my range as an author. I am hoping to have one of these projects finished by the end of the year. I do have ideas for spiritual follow ups to my current book, but they are all in the planning stages and will probably be a few years away.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have been getting excellent word of mouth response from my book from friends, friends of friends etc. but I am having trouble promoting it outside of my degrees of Kevin Bacon. I am still navigating promotional opportunities.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t listen to advice ๐
What are you reading now?
I am reading the Road by Cormac McCarthy. It’s an extremely challenging book for me but I am enjoying it so far.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As I mentioned I am spreading out into new genres and exploring beautiful new worlds on page.
