Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am the author of ten books, and two book series: The Cass & Nick series featuring, Married in the Nick of Nine, The Baby in the Window, One Harte, Two Loves, and Renee’s Return. Justice for Jessica is the first book in my new Detective Rachel Storme series. The second book, Losing Lauren, is now available on Amazon.com. I am also the recipient of the Jessie Redmon Fauset 2014 Fiction Award.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Losing Lauren. It is the second book in my Detective Rachel Storme Series. The first book, Justice for Jessica, was received so well, I was inspired to start a series.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Once I get a story idea, the story begins to tell itself and I’m constantly interrupting my day to write down ideas.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Terry McMillan, the late Frank McCourt, the late Bebe Moore Campbell, Alice Sebold, Paula Hawkins, and Gillian Flynn.

What are you working on now?
Promotions for the second book in the Detective Rachel Storme series, Losing Lauren. Early next year I will begin writing the third book in the series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Awesomegang and other similar websites.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you know and love and promote, promote, promote.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up on your dreams.

What are you reading now?
When Breath Becomes Air by the late Paul Kalanithi.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing the third book in the Detective Rachel Storme series.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, The Girl on the Train, Waiting to Exhale.
