Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Amaranthine Poetry and of course it’s my pen name. I was born in Nigeria, but am an Indian self published author/poet. I’ve written one book only. But I’m at the moment writing my second collection.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book’s called “Notes From The Heart” and it’s a collection of Poetry and Prose. The collection includes a lot of the pieces I crafted in 2016-17. The book basically describes me at the time, so whatever was happening around me or whatever I was going through at the time is peppered into the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes! I write on the toilet seat in my phone. Not always. I basically write anywhere. I just need my phone with me. But the toilet thing is a little wierd.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love budding poets on Instagram. @the_mumbling_hermit is my favourite. Then I also love Atticus, Rupi Kaur, R.H.Sin and a little bit of Pablo Neruda. Their works have definitely influenced me a lot.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a new collection. But it won’t be out anytime soon. I’ll take my time. I’m just putting together a few pieces for a collection. It should be out by July but it depends on my creative shift. It could also be out by November. I’m not going to rush it.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I don’t know really. I just got in touch with a couple of promo sites. AwesomeGang is one of them and it’s by far my favourites. I got a couple readers from Goodreads. But the best way is to do Open mics to let people in on your art. I love performaning. I don’t do it a lot but I enjoy it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You have to love what you do. Writing and publishing is one thing. It’s half the battle. But to market and promote your work is a whole another task and it requires a lot of hardwork. But stay true to who you are.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To be myself. My heroes said that. Rihanna and Sam Claflin.
What are you reading now?
Tender is the Night by F. Scott. Fitzgerald
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to write a novel but it’s going to be a couple years until that happens. I still want to improve as a poet. I love modern Poetry and I really want to be a successful traditionally published author/poet. It’s a dream.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
Dark Between the Stars by Atticus
Blue Sky Songs by the_mumbling_hermit
The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald
