Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a mom, a writer, a painter and an insomniac. I have two published books in the Monsters series, and a third coming out on November 23rd, 2016.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Playing with Fire deals with the aftermath of the first two books in the series. The more destruction you wreak the hotter the fire burns.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual, no. My process begins and ends with music. The right songs help me weave scenes together.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love anything by Laurel K Hamilton, especially her earlier stuff. he’s not a writer per say, but I love Kurt Sutter. He showed me that bad guys are human too. And that is a big piece of my Monsters series.
What are you working on now?
I am currently playing with a book about witches. It’s a little softer than my Monsters series. It focuses more on romance rather than action.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far Facebook. But I will admit, this marketing thing is a heck of a lot harder than it looks.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Have faith in your story. There are a million people out there who will tell you what works for them. Do what works for you. Remember at the end of the day, it’s your world. Do what you want.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s better to try and fail than to wish you had.
What are you reading now?
I am 3/4 through Jingo one of my favorite Terry Pratchett novels. I’ve read it going on eight times now.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am just trying to get the word out about my monsters. And you know, writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Jingo. See told you I love that one. Shapes by Steve Vance. Phantoms by Dean Koontz.
