Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Allow me to paint a fuller picture of my journey. I’ve long been fascinated by the intricate interplay between diet, health, and culture. My foray into writing began during my college years when I penned ‘Mediterranean Delights: A Culinary Journey.’ This was a project very close to my heart, as it allowed me to explore and chronicle the rich tapestry of the Mediterranean diet and its profound impact on well-being. The book was a testament to my early exploration and curiosity regarding the relationship between food and health.
Over the years, my career as a health and nutrition journalist has taken me on a global odyssey, immersing myself in diverse culinary traditions. This rich tapestry of experiences inspired the creation of ‘The Low-FODMAP Diet Cookbook for Beginners.’ It’s a result of my commitment to distill complex dietary knowledge into approachable, flavorful recipes for individuals seeking a healthier path.
Each book I’ve written embodies my dedication to unraveling the secrets of optimal nutrition and translating that into practical, everyday solutions. ‘The Low-FODMAP Diet Cookbook for Beginners’ is a recent venture that encapsulates my evolution in understanding and sharing dietary wisdom.
My goal has always been to bridge the gap between mindful eating and the sheer delight of savoring delicious meals. It’s about empowering readers to make informed choices without compromising on the pleasure of diverse, nourishing cuisines. Both ‘Mediterranean Delights’ and ‘The Low-FODMAP Diet Cookbook’ are my way of extending a guiding hand to those seeking a healthier, more enjoyable relationship with food.
I’m enthusiastic about continuing this journey, leveraging my experiences and expertise to further aid individuals in their quest for a balanced, fulfilling lifestyle through nutrition.”
I trust this offers a comprehensive insight into my background, writing, and my commitment to fostering a healthier, flavorful world through informed dietary choices.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “The Low-FODMAP Diet Cookbook for Beginners”. This book was inspired by my own personal journey to better health and my desire to help others on their path to improved well-being. Having experienced the challenges of digestive issues myself, I was motivated to create a resource that simplifies the low-FODMAP diet and offers delicious, gut-friendly recipes. My inspiration is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to enjoy flavorful, health-conscious meals without sacrificing taste or well-being.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say I have particularly unusual writing habits, but I do have a few practices that help me in my writing process. I find that starting my day with a walk in nature sparks my creativity and sets a positive tone for the day. I also prefer to write in a quiet environment, allowing me to focus deeply on the content I’m creating. Additionally, I often use visual aids such as mind maps or charts to organize my thoughts and structure the information in my books. These habits may not be unconventional, but they are vital to my writing routine and help me produce content that is both informative and engaging for my readers.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve found inspiration from an assortment of influential authors and their remarkable literary works within the realm of health, nutrition, and culinary well-being. Michael Pollan’s book “In Defense of Food” has significantly impacted my perspective. In addition to Pollan, Sarah Ballantyne’s “The Paleo Approach” has been a guiding light in my journey toward understanding the impact of food on wellness. Ballantyne’s comprehensive approach to health through diet and lifestyle has provided invaluable insights into the interconnectedness of nutrition and well-being.
Marion Nestle’s book “What to Eat” has also left an indelible mark on my understanding of nutrition. Nestle’s critical examination of the food industry, dietary choices, and their effects on health has significantly shaped my approach to educating individuals about the importance of making informed and health-conscious decisions in their everyday eating habits.
Moreover, the works of esteemed health researchers and writers, such as Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. David Perlmutter, and Dr. Daphne Miller, among others, have played pivotal roles in broadening my understanding of the intricate connections between food, health, and overall well-being. Their comprehensive research, medical insights, and approaches to dietary wellness have served as guiding beacons in my quest to empower individuals through informed dietary choices and improved health outcomes.
The amalgamation of these influential authors and their profound literary works has provided me with a diverse and comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted world of nutrition and health, shaping my commitment to sharing this knowledge and guiding individuals toward a healthier lifestyle through informed and mindful dietary practices.

Embrace a learning mindset; there’s always something new to discover in the world of writing. Engage with fellow authors, seek mentorship, and learn from their experiences. Networking within the writing community can offer valuable insights and support.
Persistence is key. The writing journey can be filled with ups and downs. Stay resilient, even in the face of challenges. Set achievable goals and celebrate each milestone, no matter how small. Keep refining your skills, whether it’s through workshops, courses, or simply through the act of writing itself.

Remember, the most important thing is to keep writing and honing your skills. Success comes with patience, dedication, and a continuous love for the written word.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The most profound advice I’ve encountered and personally resonated with is the imperative to prioritize one’s health above all else. It’s the bedrock upon which all other facets of life rest. This counsel has been instrumental in shaping my journey towards well-being and has served as the guiding principle in my exploration of nutrition and culinary arts.
Understanding that optimal health forms the cornerstone of a fulfilling life has directed my approach to both personal well-being and the creation of recipes. It’s a reminder that without a solid foundation of health, other accomplishments and joys may lose their significance.
This advice continually echoes in my mind as I navigate the realms of health, nutrition, and culinary artistry. It serves as a constant reminder that a robust and healthy foundation not only benefits the physical self but also nurtures mental clarity, emotional stability, and the overall quality of life. This philosophy has become an integral part of my work and a guiding light in sharing insights, creating recipes, and empowering individuals to embrace a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle.
What are you reading now?
As a health and nutrition journalist, I continuously engage with a variety of materials to stay at the forefront of my field. Currently, my reading list includes several insightful books and research papers. I’m delving into ‘The Microbiome Diet’ by Raphael Kellman, which offers a comprehensive look at how our gut health influences overall well-being. It’s a fascinating read with valuable insights for those interested in the interplay between diet and health.
Additionally, I’m exploring ‘The Blue Zones Kitchen’ by Dan Buettner, a captivating exploration of dietary practices in some of the world’s healthiest and longest-living populations. This book provides valuable inspiration for those seeking to adopt a lifestyle that promotes longevity and vitality.
On a more academic note, I’m immersed in the latest research papers related to FODMAPs and their impact on digestive health, as I believe that staying updated on cutting-edge research is paramount to my work in developing and promoting gut-friendly recipes for my readers.
In essence, my reading choices reflect my unwavering commitment to delivering accurate, well-researched, and practical advice to those on their own health and nutrition journeys.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer dedicated to the amalgamation of culinary delight and well-being, my future aspirations are deeply rooted in an exploration of diverse global food cultures. I’m impassioned about traveling to various countries, delving into their culinary traditions, and uncovering the intricate connections between these traditions and health and longevity.
My journey ahead involves immersing myself in different culinary landscapes, studying the impact of varied diets on individuals’ well-being and their longevity. I aspire to craft content that not only celebrates the richness of global cuisine but also educates and empowers individuals to embrace healthier dietary choices, drawing inspiration from the time-tested wisdom of diverse cultures.
Through this exploration, my aim is to create resources that provide invaluable insights, fostering a greater understanding of how food and culture intertwine to shape our health and quality of life. I envision a future where the fusion of culinary traditions and nutritional knowledge serves as a guiding compass for individuals seeking a path to enhanced wellness and longevity.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Selecting only a few books for an extended period on a desert island is a thought-provoking challenge. While it’s tough to narrow down, I’d likely choose books that offer diverse perspectives and timeless wisdom. Classics such as ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee, ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho, and ‘Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind’ by Yuval Noah Harari are among those that come to mind for their depth, insight, and ability to offer solace or intellectual stimulation during such solitude.
