Interview With Author Anathi Mgijima
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Anathi Mgijima, I grew up in a small town located in South Africa called Petrusville. I am an introverted introvert – yes, we exist – and I spend most of my day in my head, imagining new stories almost each and every day. I currently finished two books, I published one so far, and I’m currently working on my third.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Life and Times, it was inspired by real events that happened in my life, I don’t want to specify because that would mean spoiling the whole book
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, my writing habit is that I must have a cup of coffee or tea when I’m working on my manuscript
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Mostly comic books like Batman: the Killing Joke
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on my third, which is called Axis, my first dark fantasy novel. I’m also planning my future forth, fifth, and sixth book. Not at the same time, don’t worry.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That is what I’m currently struggling with. I use social media platforms and websites meant for promotions
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing, don’t let the negative thoughts control you, just begin and everything else will suddenly make sense
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To start with writing a synopsis, then plan everything by chapter, then plan a chapter by per scene. This actually is helping me alot when it comes to my my third book, it’s the biggest book I’ve ever written with over a hundred thousand words already and counting
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now, I’m trying to convince people to buy my published while getting my second book ready for publishing
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Dune series, enough said
