Interview With Author Andrie V. Skai
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, my name is Andrie V. Skai. I’m 49.
I grew up reading adventure and sci-fi stories, always dreaming of writing one myself. Now that I finally had the time, I turned that dream into reality. This is my debut novel, and I’m excited to share it with readers around the world.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Legacy of the Keppers: Code of Immortality. I’ve always been inspired by mysterious legends, ancient symbols, and stories that explore the line between myth and truth. Dan Brown’s books definitely sparked that curiosity. Being from Ukraine, I also wanted to weave in a deeper reflection on time, memory, and the legacy we leave behind. Writing this story was my way of exploring those ideas through adventure and suspense.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Since this is my first book, I’m still discovering my own habits. But I’ve found that writing late at night, when the world is quiet, helps me dive deeper into the story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dan Brown, Isaac Asimov, Arkady & Boris Strugatsky, Alfred Szklarski, Richard S. Parker, James Hadley Chase — and many others
What are you working on now?
I’m currently writing the second book in The Legacy of the Keepers trilogy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For now, I find sites that support indie authors — like Awesome Gang, Booklemur, and Freebooksy — helpful for getting initial visibility. But I believe word-of-mouth and reader reviews are the most powerful tools in the long run.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Start writing — even if you’re unsure. Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the perfect sentence. It all starts with a single line.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the story you’d love to read — and stay true to your voice.
What are you reading now?
Atomic Habits by James Clear.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope readers will enjoy my books as much as I enjoyed writing them — and that this is only the beginning of my storytelling journey.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Something about survival, something motivational, and the full adventure series by Alfred Szklarski — for the soul.
