Interview With Author Ang Roffe
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m the son of Asian American Immigrants using writing to explore and express my own mental health issues. Obsession is the first book in my first series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
When I was writing my book, I learned a lot about myself personally and emotionally. That is where I came with the name Obsession.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Whenever I have new ideas that don’t fit into my current books, I write them into short stories to share online. I plan to write more of those ideas into full novellas or books in the future.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always had difficulty reading, especially once I got past a certain level. One book series that I always remember reading was Goosebumps. I loved the twists and turns along with the accessible reading level.
Junji Ito’s books are filled with weird but unique scary situations. I have had many new ideas from his work.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the second book in the Memories of Sorrow series, which continues the main characters storyline along with another character from the first book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love Kindlepreneur’s top free and paid promotion services to find different places to promote my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Even if you think what you’re writing isn’t good. Eventually it will turn into something amazing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I was told to just publish my book. I can’t make everything perfect if I want to succeed.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Science of Writing Characters.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have plans to do book 3 of the series and then branch off into the stories of other characters. Memories of Sorrow will still continue, but new series will start.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Aching God by Mike Shel, Wood Working for Beginners, and a book about the local plant and wildlife.
