Interview With Author Anjelica Baxter
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a new contemporary romance Author excited to create steamy stories for those who love the genre. My own travels and adventures inform my plot lines.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is my first, actually. It’s Claimed by my Grumpy Professor, and was inspired by my own crush on one of my college professors. That professor came to London while I was studying for my MS there, and this story is inspired by a what if…
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmm… good question. I often have ideas for stories as I am going about my day. For instance, the other day I was in a garden store, and thought about writing a story about a woman who falls for her landscaper who turns out to be an heir to a fortune. So random! Lol!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
When I was in high school, I often would choose the thickest, juiciest historical romances I could find to read during summer vacation. Those books influenced me to create romance novels, and then my own adventures influenced me to write modern/contemporary rather than historical romances.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a romance between two people in NYC. The main male character owns a business for whom the main female character gets an internship. The MFC is pretty innocent, and the MMC is kind of a playboy, so these are their adventures. I am loving what I have so far.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m brand new at this, so I’ll have to say Bookfunnel so far…
Do you have any advice for new authors?
As I am brand new, I don’t feel qualified to offer advice yet- I am sure I will make plenty of mistakes that I will learn from and then feel a little more qualified. However, I will say, just begin. Open up a blank doc on your computer, and just start creating!!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To just start. That’s been the best, because once I made that decision- to just start- everything else has fallen into place to give me direction, ideas, and motivation.
What are you reading now?
Nonfiction- The Dawn of Everything by Davids Graeber and Wengrow
Romance- Toe the Line by Penelope Ward
What’s next for you as a writer?
To create a whole catalogue of fabulous, engaging romances that readers can get lost in!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The two I am currently reading, and then Agnotology by Robert Proctor, and Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (neither of which I have read yet).
