Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Growing up on the prairies has made me a somewhat romantic country gal. I am a published author of Forbidden Romance and Erotica. Full Trust is a m/m/f erotica with suspenseful elements. His Holy Stare came out this year with Solstice Publishing and is part of the Truth or Dare Forbidden Love Series. This story is historical 20th Century Romance and is m/f. His Forbidden Stare will be out later this year and is m/m. I also have a short story published in the Renewal of Faith Vol2 Anthology: The Second Chance.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
His Holy Stare a Truth or Dare Forbidden Love was inspired by research I was doing at work. I was digging through some archives from the 50s. During this time Brothers ran a college for boys in the community and this one Brother’s face kept popping up.
At first, his smile sucked me in. Wow. He was one happy guy. But then as I stared at him, I saw a lingering saddest haunting his eyes. A story perhaps?
And so I wrote his story, but the big thing about this story was that I didn’t want him to cave to the temptation, because the man I saw in that picture was strong and dedicated. And so no matter how much she squirmed under his stare, Brother James held to his beliefs.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I work on several stories at a time.
I haven’t missed a day of writing in over 12 years.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love watching author interviews.
I also love books where the main character, on the first page, does something to defy. Always intrigues me.
What are you working on now?
As of today, April 2018, I am working on the third book in the Truth or Dare Forbidden Love Series; Their Sinful Stares.
I like to work on several projects at once, so there is also a medieval m/m romance I’m working on, and a shifting series that is m/m/f. A m/f romance about memory loss, and a m/m/f erotica that’s suspense.
All are written and in various editing phases. Not sure which one will be done first but I bet it’ll be Their Sinful Stares!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Paying for ads has gotten by far the best results.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
As an artist, we write with passion.
To keep our sanity, we write for ourselves.
As readers, we write the story we want to read.
As authors, we simply write because we must.
Is it easy? No. Sticking to your calling never is, just ask my dear Brother James in His Holy Stare. But is it worth it? Well, only you can decide that. I sure wouldn’t change a thing. ๐
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
In an interview I was watching, the author was asked why her characters were so hot. She so casually replied something like: Because I wrote them that way. What a strong reminder that I am God of my manuscript. Sometimes my characters need reminding of this. Heck, sometimes I need reminding of this.
What are you reading now?
A book about Celtic beliefs. Need some fodder for my medieval romance and it has some great things I can use.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I will write.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Three notebooks, so I could write my own stories. And a Jean M. Auel. Doesn’t matter which one.
