Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I’m a paranormal romance and YA author from sunny southern California. I’ve written two adult paranormal series, The Dark Casters and The Beasts of Vegas, as well as a YA zombie series, The Red Plague. Writing about witches, vampires, zombies, and shifters is my absolute passion, and I can’t wait to share my stories with you.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest release is Spellspeaker’s Prophecy (Beasts of Vegas #2) coming out April 2018.
Witch on the fritz Roz Carrera rescues a shapeshifter from the vampire horde. They’ll need all the help they can get to destroy Maksim Volk and his infected army. For good.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m sure I do all sorts of odd things, but one unusual thing I do after I’ve completed the first draft of a novel is print and bind a hard copy which I then go over with a fine-toothed comb (as well as pens and markers). I actually catch a lot more mistakes when I see the story printed than on a computer screen.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are honestly too many to count! But the authors who’ve influenced both my desire to write and my writing style are Lisa Kleypas, Victoria Holt, J.R. Ward, and Kresley Cole.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I’m knee deep in novels in the Beasts of Vegas series. I’ve finished rough drafts on Blooddrinker’s Prophecy #3, Shapeshifter’s Prophecy #4, and Fortuneteller’s Prophecy #5. I’m also kicking around the idea of returning to the Red Plague series and adding another story.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best way to promote, after lots of trial and error, are giveaways and Kindle free book promotions (coupled with lots of newsletter blasts). If readers like your free book, they’ll be more likely to read your entire backlist.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing! Never stop doing what you love. Every story you finish will make you a better writer.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The same advice, really. LOL. Never stop writing. Never stop improving your craft.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera, Everything Everything by Nicola Yoo, and The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m exploring audiobook narration as well as writing gay erotica under the pen name Sadie West. I’m excited about all the prospects for writers right now.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I assume I’d have a lot of free time on the island, so I’d have to take my two all-time favorite paranormal romances: No Rest for the Wicked by Kresley Cole and Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward. I could read them over and over and never grow tired of them. Plus, I’d bring The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins because that too is a great book to read more than once.
