Lewis Falco, a rising star in the Draconis Navy, once envisioned a future of command and prestige. But the brutal realities of serving a ruthless corporation shattered his illusions. Draconis, a space mining behemoth, doesn’t just extract resources; they extract obedience, crushing dissent with an iron fist. Lewis is forced to give the order to destroy a secret outpost with suspected pirates, but with too little evidence to be sure of their guilt, Lewis morally opposes the command, after fighting the decision, he is left with no choice but to comply.

With the growing weight of his guilt, and after a chance encounter with an old friend, Lewis makes a life-altering decision: he defects. Risking everything to join the Aquila Front, a loosely organized rebellion fighting for freedom against Draconis’ oppressive rule. His defection isn’t just a change of allegiance; it starts a personal transformation as he begins to find his true self. With help from his new crew he starts to transform not only himself but the rebellion.

Lewis’s insider knowledge of Draconis’ military strategies, security protocols, and internal weaknesses proves invaluable. His first act in the Aquila Front is to sabotage a Draconis naval frigate, using a virus from an old friend to overload a torpedo. He quickly becomes a key strategist, devising daring guerilla tactics that exploit Draconis’ vulnerabilities. His actions inspire hope within the oppressed populace and galvanize the rebellion, turning a floundering movement into a force to be reckoned with. Others in the Aquila Front start following suit and momentum starts to build.

However, Lewis’ unconventional methods clash with the Aquila Front’s established leadership, particularly Sergeant Braff, a rigid military traditionalist. Braff favors conventional warfare and views Lewis’s tactics as reckless and without honor. This internal conflict threatens to fracture the fragile unity of the rebellion, even as Draconis tightens its grip on the solar system. Lewis finds himself fighting a war on two fronts: against the external enemy, and against the internal skepticism and resistance within his own ranks.

The stakes rise as the resistance gains momentum. Lewis is thrown into the spotlight as the rebellion’s accidental hero.

Author Bio:
Allen Ansel is an award winning author and a lifelong reader with a passion for science fiction and fantasy. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a dinosaur (a childhood aspiration thankfully abandoned) and later, an astronaut, inspired by his love of science fiction and his fascination with space. Growing up, he spent countless hours at his local museum, captivated by the planetarium shows and exhibits of Earth’s past. These early experiences ignited a lifelong passion for space exploration and have kept his imagination fueled with all things space.

He holds a degree from Pacific Lutheran University, where he studied Economics, History, and Literature, finding inspiration for his stories in the rich tapestry of the past.

Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, Allen currently resides there with his lovely wife, son, and dogs. He enjoys spending time outdoors and cherishes moments with his family and friends. When not writing, he works in the purchasing department for a local retailer.
