Interview With Author Arianna Barton
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi there! I’m Arianna, a book living coffee fiend. I started writing as a way to deal with my mental health issues and fell in love with it. I try put a little of my self into each of my characters to try make them as alive as possible. I have published two (almost three) books, and have written in numerous anthologies. I adore writing and don’t plan to ever stop.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Bloody Deception. The inspiration came from a picture on Pinterest where I saw a female assassin. From there on it spiraled and then the book was born.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I kind of plan as I write. I plan out the main characters first and then plan out the others as I need them. I also write to music that fits my theme and make a little chart where I put a sticker on it when I reach each milestone.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many! Suzanne Collins for one, then more of the why choose authors I’ve found on my journey. I try read widely and take note of what others do so I can keep evolving my style.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a mermaid\monster piece. It will be why choose with magic, emotions and of course, love. But what’s love without a little strife?
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mainly use TikTok and my author readers groups, Arianna’s Archives to promote, along with different promotional groups. Word of mouth goes a long way.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Find your tribe! Find people who will help you, share your stuff and their knowledge. The people who will help you when the pesky imposter syndrome hits. Writing can be lonely, but with your tribe it isn’t. Once you find like minded authors in your genre magic happens.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Sounds incredibly cheesy, but write what you love. If you don’t love it readers can tell from the feel of yours words. If you love it, so will your readers so always write what you love. you are your books first reader, after all.
What are you reading now?
Currently reading an ARC for a friend of mine!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to finish up my WIP then start book two of my Deception series!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh man, that is so hard! my cheeky answer is my kindle as it has everything downloaded, but my sensible answer would be Lyra Winter’s Fates Hollow Academy series. I love them so much.
