Interview With Author Arthur Shyndzikau
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Certainly, I’d be delighted to share a bit about myself. I am a seasoned author with a profound passion for exploring the depths of the human mind and soul through the written word. My journey has been a labyrinth of experiences and revelations, a winding path that has led me to this very moment. I’m not just an author; I consider myself a fellow traveler on the journey of life, and my words are a reflection of this extraordinary voyage.
As for my literary endeavors, I’ve had the privilege of writing several books that delve into the realms of meditation, mindfulness, and personal growth. Each book represents a unique facet of my own explorations, my experiences, and my commitment to helping others find their path to serenity and inner well-being. “Meditation Mastery: Your Path to Inner Peace and Mindful Well-Being” is my latest work, inspired by the transformative power of meditation and mindfulness in my own life.
The fascinating aspect of being an author is the opportunity to share my insights and wisdom with readers, to serve as a guide on their own journeys.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “Meditation Mastery: Your Path to Inner Peace and Mindful Well-Being.” This book was inspired by a deep and personal connection to meditation and mindfulness. Throughout my life’s journey, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of these practices, both in my own life and in the lives of those around me. It became clear to me that these ancient arts held the keys to inner peace and well-being, and I wanted to share this wisdom with the world. My experiences in personal growth, addiction recovery, and the hip-hop community all played a role in shaping this book, making it a rich tapestry of insights and practices.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have my own set of rituals I follow before I dive into writing. I light a specific candle, brew a special tea, and put on some soothing instrumental music. These rituals create the perfect atmosphere for me to focus on my writing.
I always keep a few meaningful objects nearby while I write. These objects, like a cherished memento, a motivational quote, or a family photo, inspire and ground me. They’re like old friends that encourage my creativity.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been deeply influenced by a range of authors and books that have shaped my understanding of the world and my writing. Some of these influences include renowned postmodernist works that have resonated with a diverse range of readers in the United States:
“Infinite Jest” by David Foster Wallace: This complex and sprawling novel offers a postmodern exploration of addiction, entertainment, and the human condition. Wallace’s intricate writing style and insightful commentary have left a lasting impact.
“Gravity’s Rainbow” by Thomas Pynchon: A challenging but rewarding read, Pynchon’s novel weaves together themes of conspiracy, technology, and history in a postmodern tapestry that has captivated many readers.
“White Noise” by Don DeLillo: DeLillo’s satirical take on consumer culture and the fear of death has earned this book a place in the hearts of postmodern literature enthusiasts.
“If on a winter’s night a traveler” by Italo Calvino: Though not American, Calvino’s work has been influential in the realm of postmodern literature. This novel is a playful exploration of the act of reading itself, making it a favorite among fans of experimental storytelling.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently immersed in the creative process, working on the third installment of the “Breaking Free” series. This series has been a deeply personal journey for me, and I’m excited to continue exploring themes of liberation, personal growth, and mindfulness in the upcoming book. It’s an ongoing endeavor that allows me to delve deeper into the transformative power of meditation and mindfulness, and I’m eager to share it with my readers.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
When it comes to promoting my books, I’ve found that a multi-faceted approach works best. It’s not just about one method or website; it’s about creating a web of connections. Here are some of the strategies that have been most effective for me:
Book Reviews: I actively seek out book reviews and send out advance reader copies to gain early feedback.
Email Marketing: Building an email list of interested readers and sending them regular updates and exclusive content is a great way to maintain a connection.
Book Clubs: Connecting with book clubs, either in person or online, can lead to word-of-mouth recommendations.
Author Interviews: Participating in interviews, whether for podcasts, radio shows, or blogs, can introduce me and my work to new audiences.
In essence, the key is to build a well-rounded online presence and engage with readers and potential readers through multiple channels. The specific methods that work best can vary depending on the genre and target audience, so it’s essential to be adaptable and open to trying different approaches.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Absolutely, I’d be happy to share some advice for new authors. Here are a few key insights to keep in mind:
Write Regularly: Consistency is vital. Set aside time each day or week for writing, and stick to it. The more you write, the better you’ll become.
Read Widely: Reading is an excellent way to improve your writing. Explore different genres, styles, and authors. It will expand your knowledge and inspire your own creativity.
Edit and Revise: Your first draft is just that – a first draft. Don’t be afraid to edit and revise your work. Writing is rewriting, and this process will make your work stronger.
Find Your Voice: Don’t try to imitate other authors. Your unique voice is your greatest asset. Embrace it and let it shine through in your writing.
Set Realistic Goals: Set achievable writing goals, whether it’s a daily word count or a specific deadline for completing a project. Small, consistent steps add up over time.
Seek Feedback: Don’t be afraid to share your work with trusted friends, writing groups, or beta readers. Constructive feedback can help you see blind spots in your writing.
Learn the Business: If you plan to publish your work, take the time to understand the publishing industry. Whether you choose traditional publishing or self-publishing, knowing the landscape is essential.
Persevere: Writing can be a solitary and sometimes frustrating pursuit. Keep going, even when you face writer’s block or self-doubt. Persistence is key.
Network: Connect with other authors and industry professionals. Attend writing conferences, join online writing communities, and build relationships. You never know where opportunities may arise.
Read Books on Writing: There are many excellent books on the craft of writing. Learning from experienced authors can be incredibly valuable.
Enjoy the Journey: Writing is a labor of love. Enjoy the process, and don’t solely focus on the end goal. Find joy in the act of creation.
Remember that every author’s journey is unique. What works for one may not work for another. Stay true to your passion and your voice, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Writing is an ongoing learning process, and your growth as an author is a rewarding and enriching experience.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard, and one that’s often attributed to many successful individuals, is this: “Follow your passion.” It’s a simple yet profound piece of guidance. When you’re truly passionate about something, it drives your motivation, determination, and resilience. It’s what keeps you going when faced with challenges and setbacks. Following your passion can lead to a fulfilling and meaningful life, both personally and professionally. When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, and you’re more likely to excel in that area. So, whether it’s in your career, hobbies, or personal pursuits, following your passion can lead to a rich and rewarding life.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s a fascinating exploration of the history of our species, from the emergence of Homo sapiens in Africa to the present day. Harari delves into the cultural, social, and cognitive developments that have shaped human history, and it offers a thought-provoking perspective on our place in the world.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, my journey is an ever-evolving one. I’m passionate about continuing to explore new topics and share knowledge with readers. I plan to delve deeper into the realms of personal growth, mindfulness, and the human experience. My aim is to keep creating content that inspires and empowers others to lead fulfilling lives, discover inner peace, and reach their fullest potential. There are more books, articles, and projects on the horizon, and I’m excited to see where this ongoing adventure in writing will take me next.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ah, the classic “desert island” question. Narrowing it down to just a few books is a challenging task, but here are the ones I’d consider bringing with me:
“The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho: This timeless tale of a shepherd’s journey to discover his personal legend and fulfill his dreams offers profound wisdom and inspiration.
“Siddhartha” by Hermann Hesse: This novel follows the spiritual journey of Siddhartha as he seeks enlightenment. Its exploration of self-discovery and mindfulness resonates deeply with me.
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle: Tolle’s work on the importance of living in the present moment and finding inner peace is invaluable, especially in a potentially challenging situation like being stranded on a desert island.
“Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe: It might seem a bit on the nose for a desert island, but reading about Robinson Crusoe’s resourcefulness and resilience could provide some practical survival tips!
These books would provide me with a mix of philosophical guidance, spiritual insight, and a bit of survival know-how to navigate life on that desert island.
