Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a stay at home mom to twins. In my spare time (HA!) I enjoy writing the stories that have lived in my head for years.
Currently I have one book published with another on pre-order and plans for several more over the next few years at least.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Come Back to Me is my latest book that will be debuting Nov 2017. The inspiration for this story came about part way through book one when a secondary character decided his voice need to be heard. The Hero is inspired by a fellow author and veteran who has touched my heart, as well as the countless men and women that serve our country daily.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
They don’t seem unusual to me, though I do tend to writing at odd times. I actually had a character’s voice ringing so loudly that I woke one morning before everyone else in the house and sat down in front of my computer to let the story unfold.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nora Roberts, hands down is one of my absolute favorite authors. Her stories made me fall in love with reading (again).
Books like Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire also fueled my desire to let those character’s voices be heard.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on an anthology submission that is due out in Jan 2018 – that is a spin off story from the Come Back To Me Series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Facebook has been huge for me so far. It helps me interact with my readers and learn from other authors.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up! It sounds pretty basic but there will be times when you will want to walk away – do it, but only for a moment. Then come back and keep going.
Find your tribe. Seriously. Even before you are reading to hit publish, get to know authors and readers. Interview editors. And don’t be afraid to test out more than one pro. Sometimes you just aren’t a good fit. That’s ok!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Get the words out. Don’t re-read. Don’t edit. Simply write. Get everything out in the first draft. THEN go back and re-read and tweak things.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading some client work (when not writing, I am a personal assistant to a few authors.)
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll be attending my first signing next year, I’m very excited about that.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Oh this is pure torture. Does a boxed set count as just one book?
