Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After a career in science, I have achieved a life-long ambition to publish novels. My works include science fiction and fantasy with romance and a sprinkle of humor. I was born in the UK and live in Atlanta with my husband, a dog and two cats to sit on my laptop. My hobbies, besides reading and writing, include outdoor activities like watching wildlife, hiking and canoeing.
I have self-published two full-length novels, three novellas and a short story.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I published is “Captured by the Hawk.” I describe it as a space operetta, or the adventures of the spy, Grey Kat, and space pirate, Black Hawk. It has crashing spaceships, last minute rescues, and a love story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Sometimes a new scene or character appears in my dreams. I write early in the morning before driving to my day job.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was a voracious reader as a child. Some of my favorite authors are Jane Austen and Andre Norton. I prefer speculative stories with happy endings.
What are you working on now?
I am writing a trilogy in the Grand Masters’ Universe. This epic work combines science fiction with paranormal talents. Book 1, Grand Master’s Pawn, is in the final edits. I published a short holiday story in the same universe in December: Gifts of Jangalore.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My website has excerpts from the stories and buy links. I promote on several facebook groups, twitter and Google+ communities.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Aim to write an interesting and compelling story.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Persevere, believe in yourself.
What are you reading now?
I have just finished rereading “Year of the Unicorn” by Andre Norton
What’s next for you as a writer?
There are several ideas for new stories that I’d like to pursue.
