I am an emerging author, speaker, and entrepreneur who dedicated his life to helping people achieve their goals and find success in all aspects of their lives. With a background in psychology and neuropsychology from Bangor University, I have a deep understanding of the human mind and what drives us to succeed. I wrote 2 books to this day.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Rule Your Kingdom Lessons from the Lion’s Den

My dad inspired me to write this book. He is a negative individual filled with limiting beliefs and that put a heavy ceiling on his growth as a person. This eventually led him to live a sad life, way below his potential. I wrote this book to help people like my dad to change their mindsets, set inspiring goals and achieve success through proven strategies.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nope, but I am seriously considering taking magic mushrooms when structuring my next book.

Hello, my name is Richard Oshen, screenwriter and children's book author.

"The Adventures of Pete The Squirrel – In The House" is the first book in a five-book series about a real-life squirrel that I met and named Pete. In addition to launching “The Adventures of Pete The Squirrel, my first screenplay, "The Richest Man in Town," goes into production later this year.
Currently, I live in the San Bernadino Mountains, California with a rescue dog named Montana, three rescue kittens – Emily, Emerson & Julian – as well as a squirrel named Pete.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
"The Adventures of Pete The Squirrel – In The House" is my debut book. I was inspired to write about meeting Pete and the lessons he taught me. Pete actually found his way into my house and amazed me with his ingenuity, determination and seemingly inexhaustible energy. Over time we developed a trust between us and he would visit me every time I gave Pete his special whistle.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write when I'm "in the zone" of drifting off to bed or just before waking up. I find that I am a open channel for inspiration. I carry a voice recorder with me and babble inspiration, musings and notes relevant to the project I'm working on whether book or screenplay. Eventually I transcribe the voice file, then copy and paste the output of thatfile into a word doc or final draft if its a screenplay. From that point on I am rewriting and editing. I find this workflow is very efficient for me.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Gee, I love to reading books on animals so "A Dog's Journey" by Bruce Cameron is one of my favorites. "The Dali Lama's" by David Michie also gets a big shout out. Both authors inspire me with their gentle way of seeing life through their animal companion's eyes. "The Bear and the Nightingale" is beautifully written by Katherine Ardin.

What are you working on now?
At the moment I am getting Pete's 1st book ready to launch on April 21 on Amazon. I am setting up a free kindle promotion April 21-23. Its amazing how much energy that takes. I also completed video trailers to promote the book. My 1st screenplay "The Richest Man In Town" an adaptation of a book by the same name is going into production. What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly don't know. This is the first site I visited and so far its the best! My own site www.richardoshen.com does a darn good job of promoting books and music I've written.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Never, ever, ever, ever, give up! Never listen to any who says you can't! One screenplay I wrote has taken me over 25 years to write, rewrite, send out for note, rewrite and rewrite again. I identify more as a rewriter than I do as a writer. For me rewriting is where the magic happens, the wordplay — and that's where all the juiciness develops. Keep writing. Your in the game as long as you don't quit. Finish what ever you started. Look for the helpers, editors, professional readers, seek out other writers in same genre as you and read. read read. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT. Why? Because it is happening to me!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Let the story reveal itself to you 🙂 Be a good listener.

What are you reading now?
I just downloaded Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio screenplay and looking forward to it!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Have a book in the works about a girl who loves plants and a screenplay about cats

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Now an octogenarian I have published five books in the series of The Adventures of Jimmy Crikey and three other MG children's fantasy stories.
Born close to Durham Cathedral I met Pat, my wife-to-be, as eleven-year-olds while we walked the same route homeward from different schools. We lost touch and fortuitously rediscovered each other when we were seventeen, but we had to wait until we were twenty-one before we married.
We were almost forty years old with two boys when we moved to the South coast with my company speding a deade in each of Sussex and Hampshire. Employment then brought us back to the North and we now live on the outskirts of a beautiful Lancashire town, Great Harwood,

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I have recently completed the fifth Jimmy Crikey Adventure which was inspired, if not demanded, by Jade, one of my characters. the conversation went
I was totally taken by surprise when one of my characters initiated the conversation. It went something like this:
"Dear Mr Writer, am I dying?"
Dear Jade, whatever made yo"u ask that?
"Because you haven't written a single word about me for ages and ages."
That’s because I have just finished my fourth Jimmy Crikey story and if I don’t advertise it and promote it no one will know about your story. Writing the story is the ‘easy’ part, relatively. It’s what comes next that determines how many people read your story. It takes a lot of time and my funds to promote are limited.
"But if you don’t write another story boys and girls will forget about me and that’s worse than being dead."
Jade, you and Jimmy and Matilda and Gemma will never die. Your names are written in a story book that will always be available and when someone is looking for a bedtime story for their child, they could find your story and tell it all over again.
"What if no one ever finds my story?"
Once your story was born it will live forever. New ideas never die. They are just waiting for someone to come along and pick up your story and excite the imagination of the next boy or girl. It may even be that another writer will stumble across your story, floating around in the ether, and he or she may think they have created a new character. But that character will always be you, Jade. So, stop your worrying, even if I cannot find the time or the patience to write more stories Jade the apprentice witch will never die.
"Where will my next adventure take me?"
Oh, Jade! If I only knew.
"Well, I don’t want to be an apprentice witch for much longer."
That is one thing I do know. You will graduate with honours and be even more powerful than Matilda.
"Really?"
Really, God be willing, and protect us all.

An author has to take to his characters, in order to get to know them but last year I was floored when one of my characters initiated the conversation. It was Jade, the young niece of Gemma, was concerned that because I wasn’t writing about her, she would die. Long story – short. I was moved by the normally ebullient Jade to begin writing the next adventure story in the Jimmy Crikey series.
To satisfy the young witch acolyte I was persuaded to start writing the next chapter of her life. It’s not coming easily but Jade keeps pushing.
“What is the title of my book, Mr Writer?”
I don’t have a title yet, Jade. I have hardly written two chapters but it’s not just about you.
“But you will write more. Won’t you?”
How can I not?
“You have to give it a title.”
That’s true, Jade. But let me write it first. Please
And a little more of the story took shape. Apparently not fast enough to satisfy Jade.

Jade! Be patient. I can hardly squeeze a recognisably literary sentence out of my 'pen' today. I am melting in the heat, even with three fans blowing the air around in the lounge, across the faces of the three occupants. I am surprised that anything legible is making its way onto the page, but I am still trying to add to the account of your task in the Sky Islands. I am a little surprised that Matilda has enough confidence in your abilities to entrust the safety of the Sky Islanders into your inexperienced hands. The winds have risen to tornado strength. The six islands are in danger of tearing apart and if they do everyone will be lost.
And this is only the second hurdle that will test Jade before she can be accepted into the coven as a full blown witch. Will she fail so soon at this early stage?
The more you like her efforts the more likely it is that she may succeed. Show Jade some support.

Apprentice witch, Jade, is starting to get out of hand.
"Why are you not writing today?" She demands.
She, Gemma and Jimmy are the loves of my life, after my wife, but there are more demands on my time than she seems able to imagine. Life continues to throw me several curve balls simultaneously and it takes an age to find the answers.
Jade, I haven't forgotten how important it is for you to gain your permanent wand, this year if possible. All I can do is promise that I will do everything in my power to get your story out before year end. Be patient and stop muttering spells under your breath. If you put a hex on me your book might never get written.
That's better. Now smile. You don't look good wearing a frown.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I'm not alone in being a 'pantser'. I usually have no idea what words will appear in my story until they are written down. The plot just unfolds as my characters take actions of their own volition.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
No one ever read me bed time stories, but I made sure that same mistake was not visited on my two boys and they both loved Enid Blighton's Magic Faraway Tree and Rupert the bear stories and of course Jimmy Crikey, for which I painted several water colour scenes (very amateurish).
But my biggest influence growing up, well into my teen years, was the Bible.
I gained my qualifications through night school and 'day-release' and had litttle time to indulge in fiction until after I qualified as a chemist at the age of twenty three.
As I developed my range, Wilbur Smith became my lifetime favourite followed by David BAldacci, Patterson

What are you working on now?
A brief 'time-out' because a proposed memoir was unacceptable to a close family member. So, in the meantime, I have learned how to use an electric sewing machine to alter hemlines for my wife and live-in sister-in-law, Denise.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use my WEB site www.wallaceebriggs.com followed by external promo sites to push http://amazon.com/dp/b0953mj81s for the series of Jimmy Crikey ebooks.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't expect too much too soon but never stop writing, and revising and editing again and again and keep submitting. Aim to garner as many reviews as humanly possible.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Grow a thick skin and keep writing

Another Jack Reacher novel to be followed by the latest Wilbur Smith work.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep plugging away, success may come from my next promo.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
After writing nonfiction for years, I turned to writing fiction–primarily mysteries or thrillers–several years ago. My first mystery, "The File on Thomas Marks," was published in 2021 and is still available. A collection of short stories, "The Prize Winners and Other Stories," which includes the lengthy mystery "Symbols of Death," followed several months later. "A Killing in Oklahoma," a mystery about a wealthy and successful businessman who is murdered, followed in early 2022. "The Agency," a political thriller about the CIA's investigation of UFOs and the KGB, was published in late 2022. My latest political thriller is "The Taking of the First Lady," which concerns the kidnapping of the president's wife, was just published.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
"The Taking of the First Lady" is the title of my latest book. A political thriller about the kidnapping of the president's wife, the book was inspired by my having spent several days on an island not far from one of the southern states that border the Atlantic. I wondered what would happen to the resort community if the president of the United States and his wife vacationed there. I also wondered what would happen if the First Lady was kidnapped. Would the investigation be conducted by the FBI? What if the president insisted on two detectives from the local force be involved? I wanted to try to capture the impact such would have on an island community.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to write or edit something at least five days a week.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don't know whether any writers have influenced me, but I have enjoyed reading books by Ernest Heminway, John O'Hara, John D. MacDonald, James M. Cain, Erskine Caldwell, and countless others over the years. I appreciate Heminway's style of writing. I like O'Hara's ability to capture a location or setting. I like MacDonald's ability to depict realistic characters. I like Cain's apparent ability to edit. Indeed, he does not waste words. I like Caldwell's varied characters, not to mention his humor, which is not necessarily appreciated today.

What are you working on now?
I'm working on a thriller tentatively titled "Operation in Berlin," which begins with the murder of Bernard Kolb, a retired successful businessman who had escaped Germany before the Nazis started World War II. His parents had sent him to live with relatives in the United States. Although they had intended to leave Germany, they were taken into custody by the SS and sent to Auschwitz. Although the reader learns about Kolb's life primarily from his good friend, a professor of history, they eventually learn Kolb had done some work for the CIA. The detectives investigating the murder wonder if Kolb was killed by someone he had met while working for the Agency.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
In addition to having a page on Facebook, I have pages on Amazon and Goodreads. However, I also promote my books on other websites that are sponsored by different groups. These websites can be found on Facebook. I also contact different individuals who have blogs. I have sent a few ARCs of my work to those who have asked for them.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing fiction can be frustrating, especially if you do not have an agent or publisher. In fact, an author can spend days, weeks, or even months trying to find one or the other. This time could have been spent writing another short story or novel. However, if an author wishes to be successful (that is, published), then an agent or publisher has to be found. A new author may grow tired of looking for one or the other and give up. Or the new author may publish via Amazon or Barnes and Noble or some other company. It's not too difficult. However, a new author should make this decision (traditional or self) early, not later. Time may not be a new author's friend.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you are serious about becoming a writer, then write, write, write. Don't talk about it.

What are you reading now?
I am reading several nonfiction books about religion, especially its history.

What’s next for you as a writer?
In addition to the thriller I mentioned above, I have prepared a proposal for a nonfiction book.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written over 50 children's titles, with all the profits donated to children refugees. I was a teen refugee many years ago myself. I started writing for children 8 years ago during the Syrian refugee crisis and am currently supporting Ukrainian refugees with The Dreamer: The Girl Who Dreamed the War Over and Katya's Sunflowers, both of which won awards recently. The latest book, The Dreamer, was cowritten with an amazing author, adventurer and a solo traveller, Tzuri King.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Dreamer: The Girl Who Dreamed the War Over was inspired by the current war in Ukraine. My family comes from the beautiful Ukrainian city of Odesa. However, I was raised in Moscow, Russia. The current crisis hit my family really hard. It has already been dispersed all over the world for many years. However, now, our families in Ukraine are going through unimaginable hardship as well as the rest of the Ukrainian children.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No unusual writing habits whatsoever. I do though write in bursts.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I enjoyed reading Slavic Folklore as a child. I have always admired the authors who could illustrate their stories as well. Beatrice Potter is my icon. I am absolutely rubbish at drawing. The stick man being my highest achievement in art, I am fortunate to have worked with the most talented illustrators on my books.

What are you working on now?
Tzuri and I are working on the second book in The Dreamer series. This one will be dedicated to environment and enjoying, exploring, and protecting the Earth.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am not good at promoting myself or my books. This is why I have yet to surpass JK Rowling in popularity. I am kidding. I am about to any day now 🙂

Do you have any advice for new authors?
To write about something that inspires the pants out of you. Otherwise, it will not be good. It will be like writing an essay for your school homework. Forced.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
"Anyone who writes down to children is simply wasting his time. You have to write up, not down. Children are demanding. They are the most attentive, curious, eager, observant, sensitive, quick, and generally congenial readers on earth. They accept, almost without question, anything you present them with, as long as it is presented honestly, fearlessly, and clearly." E. B. White, the author of Charlotte's Web. I live by it. I don't simplify. I don't write down.

What are you reading now?
I am having a lot of fun with my research! I read anything and everything related to ballroom dancing as I am writing a book commissioned by a wonderful dance studio in Florida. And as I would never produce anything decent if I weren't entirely inspired by the subject, I had to fly to Florida, take a few dancing lessons, and make friends with the excellent teachers who work there. One of them, a young man named Jonathan, an American version of Billy Elliot, is my inspiration for my next book!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am a digital nomad. I travel the world, meet amazing people, and see beautiful places that inspire me to write and write and never stop.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Definitely a collection of Slavic Folklore, Hans Christian Andersen's stories and Grimms' Tales for Young and Old. That's true. I still read children's books. Because really good children's books are written for more than just children.

My name is Olivia Nicol. I'm a self published author and poet. I've published over 10 books on amazon. I'm 31 years old and reside in Texas. I'm a wife and mother. Aside from spending time with my little family, I enjoy writing poetry, short stories, and fanfiction. I also love watching professional wrestling.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just published a new Christian poetry book, Under Constant Darkness
It was Inspired by the scriptures and how they can give us hope. It was also inspired by two inspirational wrestlers and admirable individuals, Nikita Koloff and Sting. The "bonus poems NK and SB" in the book are dedicated to them.
About the book:

As the world grows bleak, we need a reminder to never lose hope or faith. These poems are meant to be a reminder of that. God's promises last forever. The Bible is a book of prophecy. In a world filled with darkness and despair there is still light if you know where to look. The poems in this book are inspired by scripture and the ever changing world. Enjoy the rhymes and maybe find beauty and hope in the words.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Unusual? I try to visualize the characters I'm writing as popular actors or celebrities. It helps me get an idea of who I want them to be.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love poetry and English literature. Shakespeare, Chapter, Poe. Currently I'm a fan of pro wrestling so wrestlers influence a lot of my stories and ideas. For poetry inspiration though, I always turn to the Bible and Shakespeare.

What are you working on now?
I have three projects. I'm trying to finish up a Love Story I've been writing for two years. I'm starting a western story, and hoping to start my first nonfiction manuscript.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I usually use Twitter and social media to share my books after they are published. I'm really bad at promoting. I prefer writing.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up. Share your story. Write what makes you happy, not the public.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be fearless. Though it's easier said than done.

What are you reading now?
I'm busy writing so I haven't had time to read. (Also watching wrestling.) I'm open to book suggestions.

What’s next for you as a writer?
What's next? Well I'm hoping to write different genres. Currently I love writing poetry and sweetheart type love stories.

I am a writer and author of The Kid's Guide to Self-Confidence. I am a mother of three boys. I'm passionate about helping others, and my writing focuses on self-help for everyone, with a specific emphasis on incorporating positive affirmations daily. My background in psychology has given me a unique perspective on how to overcome struggles and live our best lives. When I am not working or writing, I love to spend time with my husband and our boys, hiking, swimming, going to the park and spending time outdoors.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Kid's Guide to Self-Confidence. My children inspired me to create this activity book as I am always sharing positive affirmations with them and I wanted to compile them into a book along with some journaling activities.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing out of the ordinary. I love to write a little throughout the mornings and find myself getting the most work done at that time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I was influenced by other workbooks and guides I read about encouraging children to be grateful and confident. Children need to be encouraged daily and it inspired me to begin writing my own books.

What are you working on now?
I am working on a journaling book for teens called Positive Affirmations for Black Teen Boys.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
As a new writer, I am always looking for ways to promote my books. I discovered Awesome Gang, which I use in conjunction with Goodreads and Book Sirens to begin self-promoting my books. In the beginning, it takes lots of work to get started, but it will be worth it.

My advice for new authors is to take the journey to start writing your books and publishing them. Be prepared for the work it will take to get started and promote your work. Do not give up. I always believe everyone has a talent, and it is up to them to hone their skills and share them with the world.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Spent a lot of my youth and much of my adulthood adventuring across the United States and the world. Even though I'm now married with a family, the adventuring spirit still yearns for the unknown deep inside me. Officially, I have written and published one book so far, "The Wayward Mage: The Adventures of Jack Wartnose." I do have the second book in the series, "The Forbearing Mage," coming out April 25, 2023, with many more books in the series planned.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is "The Forbearing Mage," set to debut April 25, 2023. What inspired the series as a whole was a desire to tell good stories that parents could enjoy with their children, along the lines of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" or Jacques "Redwall" series; fun, engaging adventures with clean humor and romance yet could still challenge the reader with its topics of family, forgiveness, and redemption.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I usually only get to write during my lunch breaks. Between my normal nine to five and responsibilities at home, not to mention a toddler who loves her daddy and constantly clings to me whenever I'm home, I don't get a lot of time to write. So I spend a lot of time conjuring up scenes in my head and then quickly writing them down in the short time I have. If I can't I make a detailed note and come back later to flesh it out. I have about 40 pages of notes for this series stretching toward the end.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, C.S. Lewis "Narnia" series, Brian Jacques "Redwall" series, Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, Susan Cooper's "The Dark is Rising" series, Frank Beddor's "The Looking Glass Wars" trilogy, Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" trilogy. Outside of fantasy adventure, there's the "Freakonomics" books, "The Richest Man in Babylon," and some other history books.

What are you working on now?
Currently, working through the self-edits of the second draft of book three in "The Adventures of Jack Wartnose" series, "The Condemned Mage." Hoping to finish soon and get it to the editor. That would leave me more time to get back to and finish the draft for book four, "The Hunted Mage."

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, don't know. Still learning how to best promote my books. Not easy being a new author trying to carve a niche out. There's a group I'm subscribed with called Self-Publishing School that has been great at coaching me through a lot of this.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
1) Pray. I wouldn't have stuck with this and the financial headache it brings without all the spiritual help I've received.
2) Don't let failure hold you back. Writing is a marathon. It's not an overnight success like the movies make it seem. Keep writing, writing, writing, and learning little by little how best to market your writing.
3) Have a few dedicated family and friends for support. You're going to get frustrated. Have them help you vent, clear your head, and then push you to keep going.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
From Terry Pratchett, when asked how he can put out a book a year; words to the effect of "If you write around 300 words a day, you can finish a book within a year!" Don't believe you have to write it all down at once. Little by little, and it will get done.

What are you reading now?
Besides book 3 of my series for the third time? Tolkien's "The Silmarillion" and some indie authors I'm helping to launch their upcoming books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Launching book 2 April 25, 2023. Then finishing the self edits for book 3 and get it to my editor. After that, finish writing book 4 and getting that ready to launch with book 3 at the beginning of next year.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Whatever books the Professor from Gilligan's Island had to create all those gadgets out of coconuts and palm fronds to make life easier.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Michael Heil. I spent several years scrounging the streets as an addict before I was radically saved from my addictions. After that I spent several years as a missionary, living in a tent or van, showering with a water bottle, and helping start food distribution programs and services for struggling children. Pursued is my first book but I have two more Memoirs in the works and one more non-fiction book on wrestling with addiction.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Pursued: God’s relentless pursuit and a drug addicts journey to finding purpose. I’ve known for well over twelve years that I needed to write this book. I had a radical snowboarding accident where I shattered my femur in the backcountry. I was a selfish drug addict and turd at the time. When I was up there on the cliff I realized I was going to meet God soon. I was going to die. Even though I didn’t believe in Him, the realization was so powerful the only thing in the world i could do was set straight my accounts. I prayed and He intervened. Instead of letting me die, He sent three clear and concrete miracles. Without each of them, I would be dead. If God could have left anyone up there to die, it should have been me, but He didn’t.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Once I sit behind my keyboard, I can’t stop! I will go for eight hours straight if I don’t force myself to take breaks. I realized after several years of this that my brain was rotting to mush. Now I force myself to take breaks and write in ninety minute intervals. I also use blue light glasses to help with the brain pain. I use a standing keyboard. I often find myself editing while writing. It is the bane of my existence. I so thoroughly enjoy writing and I so passionately dislike editing, and yet I often drift towards the latter. I have found it is much easier on my brain if I can keep my writing sessions full of just writing and my editing sessions full of just editing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The book Tweak and the book Beautiful Boy. I read them when I was a struggling addict. They didn’t give me any hope or concrete help, but they showed me that I wasn’t alone out there. They showed me that there were other people who struggled just as much as I did, and who were just as messed up and broken. I wrote my book for the same reason, so other people wouldn’t have to face their deepest, darkest pains and trials alone.

What are you working on now?
I am working on a companion guide to go along with my memoir. Studies have shown that one responsible adult who invests in a struggling youth can increase their resilience up to 80% The companion guide will help any adult who wants to help any youth who is struggling to build that type of relationship.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use facebook! I actually use facebook groups. I have spent years building relationships and although it is a lot of effort, it’s where I get the most results. One on one messaging, posting to different groups and following up to every single person who likes or comments with a personal message. It’s a ton of work but it’s worth it. Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going, never give up, and after your third draft or so, find five or six beta readers from your target audience or who enjoy reading your genre of book! Create a detailed feedback form so that they know what to do and what kind of feedback you are looking for. For me, I needed help cutting words, so I really explained to them how to do that. Their feedback can be more helpful than an editors and they don’t cost you $3,000 a piece.

What’s next for you as a writer?

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am Canadian, live in London, Ontario and I’ve written three memoirs, an autobiography, and a historical fiction novel. I have also narrated two of my books to create audio books for Audible.
I’ve had a very interesting life, especially since I retired when I was 57. I thought I’d play golf and cut grass forever, but I said NO when I asked myself the question “Is This it? Is This all there is?

And that simple response set in motion many diverse paths and adventures for the next twenty years. I became an international development volunteer working in Bangladesh, Jamaica, and Guyana, a backpacker of Central America and S. E. Asia, an entertainer and presenter, and an advocate for the Ontario Health organ and tissue donation program.
In September 2020 I had a double lung transplant.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Soldier and The Orphan is a historical fiction/romance novel about identical twin boys born to an unwed mother in Lancashire, England in 1921 and separated at birth. Neither boy knows he has brother until thirty two years later.

One of the boys is put into an orphanage and is shipped to Canada when he’s thirteen under the Home Children program which saw 120,000 boys and girls under the age of fourteen from Homes and Orphanages in the UK shipped to Canada to work as domestics and farm workers without their consent.
Like the Indian Residential School program, the Home Children program was not taught in schools as part of Canadian history yet it was a major factor in the development of Canada.

One of my reasons for writing this novel was to create greater awareness about this sad chapter in Canada’s history and to acknowledge the multi generational harm it did to its victims and descendants.

The Soldier and The Orphan the result of my desire to write a novel loosely based on my early childhood memories of growing up in a cotton mill town in Lancashire, England and my adult life experiences of emigrating to Canada by myself when I was 19.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write from your heart and gut and be brutally honest with how you feel and think – you can always tone it down later but getting in the mood and the zone is when creative juices flow.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My first and also the latest book is named “The Core of Rage”. It’s some kind of an “origin story” of my main character, Cerridwen. One of my hobbies is psychology, so I decided to use my knowledge in my books. Here I show how a sheltered kid gets thrown into a new, horrifying environment and learns how to survive in a world engulfed by war.

The second main character, Charon, is a respected leader and a brave warrior. Day after day, he loses his self-confidence. This character represents how too much pressure, too high expectations and perfectionism can destroy even the strongest of us.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Before writing I listen to music and read the lyrics. It helps me find the right words when I feel stuck.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My main inspiration are series like: Dune, Halo, Warhammer and maybe Star Wars. The 1st draft of “The Core of Rage” was just a poor Darth Vader copycat but later it evolved. I also need to be very careful because sometimes I repeat the patterns known from Warhammer series.

What are you working on now?
I’m finishing a short story. It’s about a young girl who has to survive alone in the forest. It’s my 1st short story ever and I hope it will be good. It’s cool to have a new experience.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I promote the free chapters of my book on RoyalRoad.com. This website focuses on sci-fi/fantasy readers and writers so I get very targeted audience. The price is quite high so advertising here may be risky but I’m lucky for now.
I can also recommend one thing: before you start any promotion, gather some reviews. No one cares about books without reviews.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
– Be very, very careful because scammers are everywhere.
– Never trust people who promise to “promote your book to 10 milions of targeted readers for only 30$”.
– Avoid promoters from the 3rd world countries – the have bot farms and use them to generate fake views.
– Don’t pay for “exclusive editiorial reviews by world top reviewers”. There are hundreds of better ways to spend money.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t pay for reviews”. It turned out to be pretty cost-saving. I don’t have a “pro five star review” but I have 300$ in my pocket so I can invest it into some real advertising, editing, cover artwork etc.

What are you reading now?
Unfortunately, nothing. I have exams at college, I have to write a new book and promote the previous one so I don’t have enough free time. I hope I will read something during the holidays.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to do two things: translate and publish the sequel of “The Core of Rage” and write a new book from a completely different timeline.

I’ve written three books so far. The first being a dive into the common set of morals in this society, what is deemed acceptable, what is not, etc. It’s really a hard-shell philosophy piece that nobody would get unless they had prior knowledge to thinkers like J. Butler. I published it once a long time ago, and then took it off since I was dissatisfied with it.

My second book, a metaphysical piece, set forth a possible view of reality. I really went my hardest creating this, but in the end, no publisher wanted something labeled under philosophy. One agent even told me he lacked the capacity to read it.

And my final book is my most recent. Inspired by Goethe, The Final Words of T. Harley is my first dabble into a small fiction narrative.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
As stated, Goethe and his “The Sorrow’s of Young Werther” really changed something in me. I told myself I can make my own Werther, a tortured and anguished man who besides himself, loves very little. Of course the ending while not entirely tragic, definitely can leave someone feeling empty or appreciative.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My eye is far too close fore me too see, but I’ve been told I write unusually. As almost a deep-thinking type of philosophy from the old days.

As a boy living on St. Thomas, I learned to sail, then went on to explore the US and British Virgin Islands. I climbed rocks along the rough coast, stepped on sea urchins, and watched shooting stars on dark Caribbean nights. One day, a friend showed me a baby sea turtle in a bucket of water. No matter how the bucket was turned, the sea turtle pointed itself toward the sea. When let free, it headed directly to the surf and into its home environment. Years later, after service in the Navy, I laid my mother to rest in the Caribbean Sea outside of St. Thomas Harbor. I’ve written 11 books, all romantic suspense, which is what I most enjoy reading.

My latest book is “Angela’s Quest,” inspired by the challenge of a young person today who must strive to reconcile conflicting beliefs and traditions in their life.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be patient with yourself, set aside 3-4 hours a day to your craft – 1 hour each to write, market, and learn more about being a truly rounded author.
