Interview With Author Frizzy J
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey, I’m Frizzy J. I have only written the one book so far, Harrowvault Volume 1. I have been diligently working on Volume 2, and I have many more ideas.
I am a single father working the night shift as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. I am 32, a college dropout, and an avid reader and guitarist.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Harrowvault Volume 1. It is inspired by a dream my friend had, combined with my desire to write horror. Or, at least start with writing horror.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Other than writing along with instrumental metal songs? I find that vocals and lyrics distract me.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King is a huge influence of mine. I love how he tells you what’s going on in the entire town (like ‘salem’s Lot, or The Tommyknockers, or during the climax of IT).
What are you working on now?
I’m trying to get this Harrowvault trilogy written and polished so I can move onto standalone stories that can be novels rather than collections of short stories.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have just started, so nothing has really worked out for me yet.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Sell your Xbox and remove any and all other distractions.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writer’s write.
What are you reading now?
Everything’s Eventual by Stephen King
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have given myself a July deadline for the next book, Harrowvault Volume 2.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Stand by Stephen King, IT by Stephen King, House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski, and Kurt Cobain’s Journals.
