Interview With Author Author Nazo
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey, I’m Nazo! A masked author writing emotionally heavy, psychologically driven fiction that dives deep into pain, grief, and the chaos of life. I don’t write to comfort, I write to confront. I’m based in Manila, Philippines, and I started writing back in July 2024 after walking away from content creation and eSports. It wasn’t the path I planned, but storytelling found me when I needed it most.
So far, I’ve written a short standalone book under my Dices of Dilemma series, titled, “All Hell, Drops Out”.
Each book in Dices of Dilemma stands alone, but they all explore one theme. When life puts you on the edge, what choice will you make? Stick around. I’m just getting started.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is All Hell, Drops Out.
It was inspired by the weight of grief, the kind that doesn’t just hurt, but reshapes who you are. I wanted to tell a story that captured what it feels like to lose someone suddenly, to have your world collapse in a moment, and be left with nothing but questions, guilt, and rage.
Vin’s journey came from that space, a reflection of what happens when love, loss, and truth collide in the most painful way possible.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yeah, I’d say I’ve got a pretty unusual writing habit. It’s either I write 1,000 words in a single burst, or I write absolutely nothing at all.
There’s no in-between for me. I either fall into the zone, like I’m living inside the story, or I just stare at the page, knowing it’s not the day. I’ve learned to respect both moments, when the words pour out, and when silence is what the story needs.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
One book that really influenced me is The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
It’s strange, uncomfortable, and deeply human. That story made me realize how powerful it is to explore isolation, guilt, and emotional decay through fiction. It doesn’t hand you answers, it just sits with you. Heavy, unsettling, honest. That’s the kind of feeling I want my stories to leave behind.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on my next release, Biting Off Our Fall.
It’s a short, intense psychological story about a teen who accepts a high-paying job that seems too good to be true, all to save his mother’s life. It’s fast, emotional, and puts everything on the line. Loyalty, survival, and the price of a promise.
If All Hell, Drops Out was about grief and truth, this one’s about desperation and how far someone’s willing to go when they feel like they’ve got nothing left.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For me, social media has been the best method when it comes to promoting my books.
Platforms like Instagram, Threads, and Facebook let me connect directly with readers, share my journey, and build a community around the stories I write. It’s not just about selling, it’s about showing people what the book feels like, what it stands for, and letting them decide if it speaks to them. Real people, real reactions, that’s what drives the most impact.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Not really, to be honest. I’m still figuring it all out myself.
I’m a new author too, so I wouldn’t pretend to have it all together. What I can say is — if something inside you is pushing you to write, listen to it. Don’t wait for perfect. Just start. That’s what I did, and it changed everything.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard? Don’t quit.
Simple, but powerful. Writing can get overwhelming, the doubts creep in, and it feels like no one’s listening, but if you stop, the story never gets told. Keep going, even when it’s messy, even when it’s slow. The only way to fail is to give up.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.
It’s tense, twisted, and addictive. The kind of story that keeps you on edge the whole way through. I’m always drawn to characters with secrets and situations that unravel fast, and this book delivers that with every chapter.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me? Pushing even deeper.
Biting Off Our Fall is coming soon, and after that, I plan to keep building the Dices of Dilemma universe, more standalone stories, each one raw, emotional, and unafraid to hit where it hurts.
I’m not here to play it safe. I want to write the kind of fiction that lingers, that makes readers feel something real. So yeah, more stories, more pain, more truth, that’s what’s next.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island and could only bring a few books, I’d go with manga that I know would hit me emotionally, keep me hooked, and mess with my head in the best way.
So I’m taking. Rainbow Days for the heart, Naruto for the grit and growth, Tokyo Ghoul for the chaos and pain, and anything by Junji Ito because if I’m stuck somewhere, I might as well be terrified too.
That mix would keep me sane, emotional, and fully entertained.
