I’m Moodykhan — a practical dreamer, creative rebel, and passive-income explorer. I don’t believe in working harder; I believe in working smarter, lazier, and more creatively. Currently finishing a bold and emotional title called “Talk That Hits Deep” — it’s part poetry, part truth bombs, part emotional detox. It’s raw, real, and meant for people going through silent storms.

Besides Amazon and Goodreads, I’ve had solid traction through Awesome Gang, Fussy Librarian, and BookBub. I also use social media reels, Reddit, and my email list for real, raw marketing.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t write to impress. Write to expose — your truth, your pain, your edge. Perfection is a trap. Hit “publish” even when you’re scared. Especially when you’re scared.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If it scares you and excites you at the same time — do it.”

What are you reading now?
“Rework” by Jason Fried — again. Because I believe in anti-hustle entrepreneurship.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Turning some of my books into short-form video content, audiobooks, and maybe an online community. I want to make books feel alive — not just pages, but real experiences.

Interview With Author Ken Tentarelli

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My travels throughout Italy ignited my passion for writing. I delighted in touring each region of the country and ultimately fell in love with Florence’s charm. Witnessing the places and things that shaped lives hundreds of years ago was awe-inspiring and sparked my imagination.

Envisioning life during the Renaissance prompted me to try writing. My debut novel featured Nico Argenti, a young man newly returned to Florence after graduating from the University of Bologna law school. That book earned a Publishers Weekly starred review and motivated me to keep writing. I was getting to know Nico and was eager to learn more about him. Doing so meant delving into his world by doing more research, which culminated in five more books, thus far, in the Nico Argenti series.

After writing six books set in the Renaissance. I felt comfortable with that era and extended my research further back in time until I came upon the time of the black plague. The incredible events of that time form the core of my latest book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Blackest Time,” my latest book, is set when Europe was ravaged by the black plague. In school, we learned it was the most horrific time in history. Even before the plague struck, people endured two years of nearly continuous rain that destroyed farm crops and caused famine in the city.

Compassionate people helped their neighbors through their suffering by offering food, shelter, and comfort. Doctors tried relentlessly to treat the afflicted. Government officials found innovative ways to bring grain from northern Italy and Sicily to feed the hungry. Religious souls prayed for God’s mercy. It wasn’t the plague itself, but the response of the people that inspired me to write The Blackest Time. I saw so much happening and felt their story needed to be told.

When I mention that the book takes place at the time of the plague, people say, “Wow!” That must be depressing, but it isn’t. The Blackest Time is an uplifting story about the resilience of the people and the human spirit’s ability to overcome unimaginable adversity.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say whether they’re unusual, but I have two approaches to writing. In the morning, I sit at a computer where I compose new material, edit the material I wrote the previous day, and organize my material using spreadsheets of plot points and character descriptions.

In the evening, I often let my thoughts wander while watching television. I’ll review in my mind what I had written that morning, think about where the story needs to go next, and begin writing with pen and paper. I get so absorbed in my writing that I often miss the ends of TV shows.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Two authors I especially admire are Richard Russo and John Sandford. Richard Russo is a masterful storyteller who creates engaging depictions of small-town life and authentic characters. Among his superb collection of books, Straight Man is my favorite, for its mix of dry and laugh-out-loud humor.

John Sandford is an expert at creating character relationships through free-flowing dialogue. When I started writing, my dialogue was stilted. I struggled to write dialogue that felt authentic and flowed naturally. Reading Sandford’s novels helped me to sharpen my writing ability.

What are you working on now?
My latest book, The Blackest Time, will be released in September. Right now, my attention is on promoting that book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Articles about writing are filled with advice on establishing a writing discipline. I believe writers need to discover the approach that works for them. Some folks need the rigor of writing at something every day — even if it’s just a sentence or two. Others need at least an hour to wrap themselves in their story. My advice is not to force yourself into someone else’s mold. Find the approach that works for you.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t feel your first draft needs to be perfect. Editing while you write can block creativity. Finish writing a chapter before you edit, then be a brutal editor.

What are you reading now?
Ben Franklin by Walter Isaacson. The vast majority of books I read are fiction, but occasionally I enjoy the diversion of a good non-fiction read.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Folks have asked me when the next book in the Nico Argenti series will be released. Fans of the series are eager to know if Nico and Bianca will get married in the next book. The Blackest Time is a stand-alone book. After it is launched, I expect to revisit Nico.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ken Follett’s Kingsbridge series. It’s a great historical fiction epic that begins in the twelfth century. As someone who writes historical fiction, I appreciate the research that went into the series. With over 4000 pages in the four-volume series, I’d have plenty of reading material to keep me busy until a rescue ship arrived.

Kyra is 8 years old and lives in sunny Texas with her amazing Mom and Dad – they’re Indian and she’s their only little princess. She’s a single child and she’s loving it as she gets all the attention (Surprises and Celebrations!).

Kyra is total bookworm and is always open to read interesting character stories. Not only that, but she’s also a baking super star and since young always interested in making her own sandwiches, trail mix, and other recipes from several kid friendly cookbooks.

But it’s not just baking and books!

Kyra has a huge heart. She loves planning mom and dad birthdays, mother’s day, and so on. She loves playing and spending time with her mom and dad. And family time means playing with her cousins. She also loves play dates with her friends and is always up for a game of tag, hopscotch, or anything that involves running around.

Each of my books is a step toward my larger mission: empowering people to reclaim their mental, physical, and financial well-being from the inside out.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled Redefining Reality: Let the Money Find You.

This book was born out of a personal exploration—rooted in the constant pressure many feel to hustle harder, prove their worth, and tie their self-value to how much they earn. I recognized these patterns in myself and those around me. Despite doing “everything right,” people still felt financially anxious or unfulfilled.

That’s when I realized: our outer wealth is often a reflection of our inner world—our nervous system, our beliefs about safety and success, and the energetic blueprint we carry around money.

I wrote this book not as a traditional finance guide, but as a soul-awakening invitation. It’s for those who are tired of burnout and ready to experience abundance through alignment, intention, and inner freedom. Redefining Reality helps readers rewrite their money stories, heal their relationship with wealth, and step into a reality where success flows naturally—without over-efforting or chasing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I often begin my writing sessions with a short meditation or breathwork practice to ground my energy and tune into a deeper state of clarity. I also keep a journal nearby to catch intuitive ideas or insights before they slip away. Sometimes I write out of order—starting with the conclusion or key breakthrough moments—then work my way back to structure the rest of the content around that emotional climax.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many authors have shaped my journey, but some of the most influential include:

Michael A. Singer – for his work on consciousness and surrender.
Brené Brown – for her insights on vulnerability and authenticity.
Dr. Joe Dispenza – for connecting neuroscience with personal transformation.
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins – especially for reframing how we handle criticism and boundaries.

These authors have helped me integrate both scientific understanding and spiritual awareness into my approach.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I’m working on a follow-up companion guide to Redefining Reality, which will include journal prompts, nervous system regulation exercises, and daily abundance practices. I’m also outlining a youth-focused book on emotional resilience and mindful tech use—an increasingly urgent topic in today’s digital world.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, truly , I have not promoted my books except the Amazon kindle select for free promotion and kindle count deal.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes—write from your own truth, not just what’s trending. Your voice is your most valuable asset. Don’t wait for perfection. Publish, learn, refine. And don’t underestimate the power of email marketing and free book promotions to grow your readership organically.

Also, make time to nurture your own wellness and clarity—because when you’re grounded and aligned, the words will flow more freely.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t force what’s meant to flow.” This changed how I view both creativity and life. When we align with who we are and let go of forcing outcomes, what we desire often finds its way to us.

Right now, I’m reading “The Biology of Belief” by Dr. Bruce Lipton—a fascinating blend of science and spirituality that aligns beautifully with the themes of mindset, energy, and transformation I explore in my writing.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I’m excited to continue expanding my work at the intersection of personal growth, wellness, and conscious living. My next focus is twofold:

Creating companion workbooks to go along with some of my recent titles, especially Redefining Reality. These will include reflective prompts, energy alignment exercises, and nervous system practices to help readers apply the concepts in their daily lives.

Launching a podcast focused on “Aligned Living and Abundant Thinking,” where I’ll explore topics like financial mindset, sustainable wellness, youth empowerment, and the energetic roots of transformation.

Beyond books, I want to build a more interactive space—through courses, audio series, and group sessions—where readers become active participants in rewriting their inner stories and aligning with their true power.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer – for grounding wisdom and spiritual clarity in moments of stillness.
2. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle – as a reminder that peace and presence exist even in solitude.
3. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho – for its timeless inspiration about following one’s purpose, no matter the circumstances.
4. The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton – to stay connected to the science behind how thoughts, beliefs, and environment shape our inner world.

These books combine deep reflection, insight, and guidance—all things I’d want with me in a place of quiet and self-discovery.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written over 16 books, mostly twisty crime stories (my mom is my biggest fan – and toughest critic!).

But Sophie Red Dot is something special. It started when my daughter Charlie told me, “I want a story that’s modern and just goes BOOM!” So I put aside the murder mysteries for a while and wrote something magical, wild, and full of heart – just for her (and now, for you!).

We live in Zurich with our three cats: Cookie, Cupcake, and Muffin (yes, those are their real names 😸), who may or may not have inspired some of the characters in the book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Sophie Red Dot – The Book of Magical Creatures. It all started with a little cat we bought in Paris – not a real one, but a tiny, mysterious cat figure we found in an Asian shop. We named it Taro, and somehow, that little cat sparked a whole magical story.

From there, everything grew: secret doors, magical creatures, and a brave girl named Sophie Red Dot. It became a wild adventure inspired by my daughter’s imagination, our family travels, and a lot of laughs (and cat fur) along the way!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like writing in bed in the morning when nobody is awake between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. :S

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I read a lot – so it is a wild mix.

What are you working on now?
Sophie Red Dot – The Tear of the Dragons and a Book called Up on the Island.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am just figuring it out. So lot to learn.

Write. Just write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Breath. Just breath. Which can be translated to: Write. Just write.

What are you reading now?
Geek Girl. My daughter loves it and me too.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Sophie Red Dot – The Boy of the Endless Sky. And learn how to market my book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A Mickey Mouse Comic. Lord of the Rings and all the books from Elias Canetti.
