Interview With Author Scott MacWherter
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well I was born and raised in a small beach town in Florida’s Tampa bay area. Three days after I graduated from high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
My time overseas only embedded the travel bug deeper so I worked on cruise ships for a number of years. I have been to over 45 countries. I even met my wife on a ship. She is Australian. She moved Tampa with me and we lived there for 17 years. I had promised her one day I would bring her home. So that day came. We sold our house in Tampa while we had an active serial killer stalking the neighborhood. Along with our then 7 year old daughter we then drove across America in rented RV. When we got to California we flew to Melbourne, Australia where we now live.
This is the first book I have written.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Make It a Life of Adventure: Live without fear! Discover where your adventures will take you!
It is a personal development book containing elements of a memoir. My own story is what inspired it. I have always been very adventurous. Then a gunpoint robbery left me with crippling PTSD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I immersed myself in therapy and intensive training in fear and anxiety management. My recovery included an outdoor wilderness adventure course that taught me the transformative power of adventure – as a tool for personal growth and healing. That is when I realized what the book would be about.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am probably the last person any of my teachers or anyone who knew me when I was younger would think would be able to write a 95,000 word book. I am dyslexic and have ADHD. With ADHD being in the correct mindset when I sit down to write is very important. Otherwise, I am bouncing off the walls and not getting anything accomplished.
We live on the edge of the suburbs at the mouth of a beautiful valley. It’s wine country and there are a whole lot of wineries. Surrounding the valley are two mountain ranges. Before I sit down to write I like to go off into the mountains and hike. The further into the wilderness I get the better my writing seems to be afterwards. If I don’t have the time I will just walk in the park at the end of my block, but it seems that the deeper and more immersed in the bush I get the more productive I am afterwards.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would say Henry David Thoreau, Richard Luv and Tim Ferriss are the authors that spring to mind. There are probably a lot more influences that I don’t think of consciously that have had an impact.
What are you working on now?
Now I am going to be focused more on the marketing aspect of this. There is just so much to learn. I have other book ideas that I work on as time allows but they are not my focus.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still working that one out. I have some exciting ideas but have not had the chance to implement or test them yet. Let me get back to you.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going. Whenever you feel like you have hit a brick wall just keep going.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That would be a piece of advice from a skydive instructor after I failed my Accelerated Freefall test. I didn’t fail that bad I suppose, or I wouldn’t be here. I had to do a series of arial maneuvers and got nervous and choked. The advice he gave me was “Breathe deeply, relax and have fun with it.” After that I passed the test easily. Although he was talking about skydiving, I have found that little piece of advice useful in every aspect of life.
What are you reading now?
I am one of those people that usually has three or four books going at the same time. Right now, I am reading Tawny Frogmouth by Gisela Kaplan. I am also reading Comfort Crisis by Micheal Easter, Spiders of Australia by Volker W. Framenau and Melissa L. Thomas. Oh, and Ninja; Unmasking the Myth by Stephen Turnbull. You can’t say my interests aren’t varied.
What’s next for you as a writer?
For a while I just want to concentrate on getting the word out on this one. I think my message about learning how to face your fears and ultimately doing things you love is an important one.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Thrive: Long-Term Wilderness Survival Guide by Juan Pablo Quiñonez for obvious reasons
2. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I read a little bit of it now and again. It is one of those books I feel I should read: it’s just such a beast of a book. Maybe If I am stranded on a deserted island I will have the time and inclination.
3. The Lord of the Rings trilogy as one big book. Just for the escapism. It’s also one of the few fiction works I can read over and over. Plus, a book that heavy would be good for opening coconuts.

About In The Valley of Supreme Masters, A Chronicle of Power by M.G. Hawking

Interview With Author W.D. Kilpack III
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
W.D. Kilpack III, MPC, PSMC, is an award-winning science fiction and fantasy author recognized for his works across various media, including print, online, radio, and television. His writing journey began at the age of nine when he won an award for a poem. As an adult, his first three novels — Crown Prince, Order of Light, and Demon Seed —each won the International Firebird Book Award and The BookFest Award, with Crown Prince also receiving the International Impact Book Award. His works Demon Seed, Rilari, and Vengeance Borne were featured as Editor’s Choice on BooksShelf, and both Order of Light and Rilari were named Top Picks. He earned an Honorable Mention from L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future Contest for his novella Pale Face. To date, his books have garnered 26 awards.
In addition to his writing career, W.D. Kilpack III has served as the editor and publisher of 23 print and online news and literary publications, with circulations as high as 770,000. He is also a partner at Safe Harbor Films, LLC, where he writes screenplays and oversees marketing efforts.
He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Westminster University, where he double-majored in communication and philosophy and completed the Honors Program. What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Vengeance Borne: Book Five of New Blood.
It continues the story of Natharr, who is Guardian of Maarihk, one of a long line of protectors dating back to the Firstborn Age, before the Aa Conquest. Natharr’s is an ancient role, rooted in his Firstblood, giving him Sight to see what is yet to be, adhering to his sacred duties even in the centuries since the Firstborn were forced to the brink of extinction by the Aa.
Natharr still stands guard over all men, Aa or Firstborn, Seeing what will come to pass, deciding what is unavoidable and what is not. Spending decades planning, even for saving the life of the newborn Crown Prince Vikari so he may one day reclaim the throne in the land where Mankind was created.
In Vengeance Borne, the past and present collide, forcing Natharr and the rest of the Rilari to struggle with the consequences of their absence, past choices, and the power of the Usurper’s vizier left unchecked for far too long. The strain proves too much for some, requiring hard decisions to prepare for a dark future racing toward the Guardian of Maarihk, Ellis the Elder, and the Knights of Ril. All that two generations of Guardians have planned from what their Sight revealed is on the brink of failure. They split their forces to race against time, gambling that thinner numbers will endure on diverging paths toward victory.

As far as what inspired the New Blood Saga, for months, I was having a recurring dream that would have me in tears when I woke. It persisted for months, and I finally realized that I needed to write it. Pretty quickly, I realized that I wouldn’t be able to achieve the same level of emotional impact in one book, so I thought I would write a trilogy. However, even then, in building to the point in the dream, creating the gravitas that would really give it some punch, I hadn’t even gotten to the dream in those three books, so I thought it would be six. As I continued writing, it became an eight-book saga.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not write out outlines, but I always have a plan for major milestones in the storyline. I like to just let it flow for the steps between those milestones. I love those moments where I sit back and say, “Whoa! I didn’t see that coming.” If it surprises me, it will certainly surprise my readers.
Also, my wife, Alison, loves her bedtime stories. I write every day, without fail. That night, I read to her. She tells me when she thinks a character wouldn’t say or do something. It also allows me to get a wave of editing in while reading it out loud. Incidentally, one of my more common comments is that my female characters don’t sound like they were written by a man. That is thanks to my wife.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love science fiction and fantasy. My influences include Homer, J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Stephen R. Donaldson, George R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan, David Eddings, Alan Dean Foster, Piers Anthony, Robert Holdstock, Robert Adams, John Norman, Melanie Rawn, Shakespeare, Aristotle, and Robert Frost. There are only three authors whose books I have read so many times (or loaned to friends who didn’t treat them as the treasures they are) that I bought them a second or third time: Tolkien, Anthony, and Foster. Since I am also a screenwriter, this list would not be complete without Aaron Sorkin, Quentin Tarantino, and James Cameron. The most inspirational writers would be Homer, Tolkien, Martin, and Artistotle. People always balk on the last one and I have one response: Aristotle was writing around 350 BCE and people are still reading his work and it’s still absolutely applicable; that’s absolutely humbling.
What are you working on now?
I am polishing up Battle Calm: Omega Message, the sequel to my dystopian military sci-fi novel, Battle Calm. I’m tweaking the last chapter and and working on cover art for it. It should be out in the next month (knock on wood). I have completed the second draft of the screen play for my sci-fi novella, Pale Face, which is in movie development and waiting feedback. I am starting the polishing work on Usurper’s Might: Book Six of New Blood, which will be out before the end of the year!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The best thing is my website, www.Kilpack.net, which has turned into the communication hub of my hopes and dreams. It has information about the books and links to purchase them directly on Amazon, NOOK, Kobo, Smashwords, Apple, etc. The site also has information about me (for those who are interested); links to interviews; photos sent to me by readers holding my books; videos of people who joined the Knights of Ril (which you can also do on the site), then videoed themselves reciting the vows of a Knight of Ril and sent them to me. It’s been pretty amazing, and certainly unanticipated, to have people sending me those kinds of responses. It also has links to my author pages on Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, LibraryThing, and other information!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The best advice I have is write, write, write. You see a movie and a line of dialogue has you going down another path, write it down. You hear a song and a lyric strikes you, write it down. The best advice for someone wanting to be a writer is just that: start.
The next best bit of advice is don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Envy is an ugly and devious monster. If someone says that you can’t, it’s probably that monster using its powers to capitalize on someone’s true feelings that he or she can’t. Remember that.
Last, write the book that you want to read. I know I’m not the first to say this. Stephen King, Maya Angelou, etc., have said it. But it’s true. If it’s something you would want to read, then write it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to promote my books, increasing the number of my personal appearances, and just continuing to love every minute of it!

Interview With Author Sima Moussavian
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Even though nowadays reading isn´t really a thing anymore, I strongly believe in the power of words and get the biggest pleasure out of beautifully written prose. In the past years wrote 7 novels and novellas under my own name. Apart from that, I wrote and consulted on more than 20 novel projects of clients such as German actor Ralf Scharrer.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just recently published “They way they leave”, a murder mystery about geoengineer Aaron Curbler. The book is a deep dive into trauma and trauma-related guilt. It explores the delusions we choose to believe in in order to integrate traumatic events into our life. What inspired it was, for one, the need I felt to shed a light on geoengineering, a nowadays really relevant topic that is still being muted by the media. But that I started writing it was inspired by the saying “The way they leave tells you everything”, which I consider absolutely accurate. How someone leaves you reveals everything about the person they are, about who you are to them and about the relationship you have or had with them. The day I started writing the book I was thinking about this intensely, because I realised that I for once had people in my life who I knew would never just walk out of it without even so much as a goodbye.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not very unusual ones, but I prewrite my books in my head on my daily runs. Apart from that I only really write in the middle of the night. I feel like when no one else is awake, the great thoughts are still available, just out there somewhere for me to grab them, and cannot be taken away by someone else.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The person whose style has influenced me most is probably Charles Bukowki. I consider everything he ever wrote exceptional, so touching and raw, so honest. There is nothing that speaks to me like his writing. Apart from him Friedrich Nietzsche was a big influence. His thoughts are up there with the best thoughts I believe anyone has ever had. Moreover, there are a few linguists whose theories were important to my writing and thinking, for example Lakoff and Johnson and their “Metaphors we live by”.
What are you working on now?
I am actually writing the sequel to “The way they leave” at the moment. While the first book out of the series is exploring consequences of trauma such as trauma-related guilt, the second one will explore the getting over trauma, the redemption, so to speak.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do a lot of promotion on my facebook page and it has worked out for me so far.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would like to go with the advice I lived by and that is a quote by Charales Bukowski: “Unless it comes out of your soul like a rocket, unless being still would drive you to madness or suicide or murder, don’t do it. Unless the sun inside you is burning your gut,
don’t do it. When it is truly time, and if you have been chosen, it will do it by itself and it will keep on doing it until you die or it dies in you. There is no other way. And there never was.”
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I´ve ever heard was to question things. Yourself, the world around you, the news you hear, by God, even the laws of nature. Question because if you don´t, then how can you be sure that you aren´t living a lie?

Interview With Author Sarah Muchoney
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an author from the Pacific Northwest. In my late 20’s I became bedridden with a mysterious illness that developed into unbearably painful quadriplegia. For over a decade I lay motionless in this state and spent my time writing stories in my head. The situation seemed hopeless, but I promised myself if by some miracle I recovered I would write my stories down and publish them as books.
Against all odds, I was able to recover and have been pursuing my dream of establishing myself as an author ever since. I’ve got 3 main books, these are “The Devil Who Went to Heaven: Dark Fables of Angels”, “Paranormal Jelly Director’s Cut”, and “The Saintly Imp”. My stories are primarily about angels, demons, occultists and the paranormal.

“The Devil Who Went to Heaven”, I’ve always had a fascination with angelic mythology, and wanted to bring a humanistic lens to these figures of divinity.

What are you working on now?
An MM romance in which a Goblin King living in Seattle to hide from his angry subjects back home (due to certain cookie shenanigans) narrates the tale of Satan’s true love.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
fussy librarian is pretty decent for the price, tiktok and instagram have been very useful as well
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Always get a beta reader before sending the book to print, sign up for Canva to help with formatting covers & social media posts, don’t get caught up in drama.

Interview With Author Andrew Davie
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have worked in theater, finance, and education. I have taught English and creative writing at the middle, high school, and college levels for students with learning differences and ADHD, English as second language learners in the United States, abroad in Hong Kong, and in Macau on a Fulbright Grant. In 2018, I survived a ruptured brain aneurysm and subarachnoid hemorrhage. I recently graduated with a clinical mental health counseling degree, practice as an LGPC, consult for James Mason University about brain injury assessments, and, before her passing, cared for my mother while she had ALS. I have written novellas in the crime fiction genre, memoirs about recovery, and short story collections.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
William Faulkner’s Cannibal Holocaust. I was teaching at the time and tried to think of the most outlandish and ironic title I could come up with.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
These days I write when I can, but when I was teaching and burned out during the week, I would write on Saturdays.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Charles Bukowski, James Clavell, Lee Child, Stephen Hunter, and Robert B. Parker
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a science fiction/horror installment to my “Beyond” series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Youtube
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keeping going. The first draft is like dumping a box of puzzle pieces on the floor. It’s just important to get them all out. The following drafts are when you put the pieces together.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.
What are you reading now?
Crazy Sorrow by Vince Passaro.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To keep writing.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Factotum, The Iliad, Moby Dick, Man’s Search for Meaning.
