Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Mpho Nkadimeng, an author from South Africa. After a long career freelancing, I finally wrote two books which are both available on Amazon.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is The New Kingdom: Jabari. I was inspired by the local culture of Africa and wanted to blend them together and create a book that both appealed to the local audience but was also universal in its storytelling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can only write late at night when the world is asleep. I find it peaceful. That’s when the ideas start to flow, especially around 4 A.M.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am a die-hard fan of James Patterson and his short but punchy chapters. I like how he punctuates moments with simple revelations that move the story forward.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on the sequel to The New Kingdom. It is going to be a series of five books as there are five tribes. It only makes sense.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media such as bookstagram and Tik Tok are the best when it comes to promoting new books, in my opinion. It can be challenging to make a book more visually pleasing but it’s a challenge that I welcome.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Take your time and perfect your craft. You can write about anything as long as it is written well. It helps to read books in your genre to sharpen those skills, and when it comes to marketing, easy does it. Be a little patient. You’ll get there.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best writing advice I have received is by a political activist in South Africa called Steve Biko. His advice was simple. When asked what his advice to young writers would be, he simply said, “I write what I like.” Simple but profound.

What are you reading now?
I am reading The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have four more books to write which is absolutely thrilling. I want nothing more than to complete the series and let people enjoy it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would definitely take Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Four Past Midnight by Stephen King and Soar by Bishop T.D. Jakes.

Interview With Author Krista Bragg

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written two nonfiction books, with another one on the way, as well as a textbook chapter and a handful of articles in peer-reviewed journals and health and fitness publications. For me, writing has always been more than just putting words on a page. It’s my way of connecting ideas and making topics that can feel overwhelming or confusing a little easier to understand.

I also publish fiction under a pen name, a creative avenue to explore relationships and all the messy, human parts of storytelling. Whether I’m breaking down a complex subject or creating a fictional world, my goal is the same: to connect with readers and leave them with something that stays with them after the last page.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Startup Guide to U.S. Healthcare. Over the years I’ve met incredibly bright people with innovative ideas who never made it to action simply because they didn’t understand the healthcare system, the key stakeholders, or the hurdles of starting a company. I wanted to change that. Drawing on my many years leading insurance and healthcare organizations, I turned those lessons into a practical resource.

It began as a simple idea for a quick reference guide, but with thoughtful feedback it grew into something much more comprehensive — over 700 pages! To my relief, the response has been very positive, with readers saying the depth and detail make it truly useful.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I think my most unusual writing habit is working on two books at once, usually one nonfiction and one fiction. Switching between them uses different parts of my brain, and I find that rejuvenating. It is easy to become so absorbed in writing that I can type all day, only pausing when my husband reminds me to eat or drink. I’m sure other writers can relate to that.
Much of my writing draws from real life. My nonfiction books are built around real questions from real people and actual events. In my fiction, I sometimes catch myself analyzing everyday moments like a sound, a look, or a small gesture and imagining how I would translate them into words on the page.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too numerous to list, I love to read most genres and am a life long learner.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on a book for everyday readers called Health Insurance Made Simple. Health insurance is so complex that even healthcare providers struggle to make sense of it at times. My goal is to create a clear, practical guide that explains how it really works and offers straightforward tips for navigating tricky processes like enrollment, insurance denials, and finding ways to save money.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Sites like Awesome Gang, my own social media networks

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing and publishing a book is often harder than people expect. It takes real commitment and having support from family and friends makes the journey easier. The work of turning ideas in your head into words that others can understand is challenging, but the reward of seeing your book come to life is worth every bit of effort.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write first, edit later. Don’t let perfectionism stop the flow of ideas. Get the words down first, then shape them.
Write about what you know and just “be you”. Don’t psych yourself out by thinking other authors are so much better. They are not you and don’t have your experiences, your style, your perspectives. There is only one of you.

What are you reading now?
I’m cycling through fantasy books and books discussing technology and AI

What’s next for you as a writer?
Next for me as a writer is finishing my consumer-focused book about health insurance and completing my current fiction series. Beyond that, I’ll see where the journey takes me, I’m percolating on a few ideas. I’m fortunate to have some podcasts scheduled and continue to work with startup companies through my consulting business. I’ll keep drawing from real life for inspiration — it always seems to spark the next project.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I would bring The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien, because the writing is so rich and layered that I discover something new every time I return to it. I’d also take a picture book of my family, because no story matters more than theirs.
And for practicality, I’d want a survival guide — ideally one called “How to Survive on a Desert Island”. Since I haven’t found that book yet, maybe one of you can get started writing it?

Interview With Author Jamari Torian

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
From a young age, I was captivated by the power of storytelling. Growing up immersed in fantasy literature, I discovered worlds where the impossible became possible, where heroes rose from unlikely circumstances, and where magic was woven into the very fabric of existence.

My writing journey began with small stories and expanded into the epic fantasy realm with “The Sundered World” series. I believe in creating characters that feel real and relatable, even when they’re wielding magic or battling mystical creatures. Every story I write aims to explore the depths of human nature through the lens of fantasy adventure.

By day, I navigate the digital world of cybersecurity, defending against hidden threats and unraveling complex systems. By night, I channel that same analytical mindset into crafting intricate plots and weaving detailed magic systems. This passion for technology provides a unique lens through which I explore themes of power, protection, and the hidden forces that shape our lives—both online and in the worlds I create. I have written two Fictional books so far.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, The Sundered World Volume 2, was inspired by a vivid recurring dream I experienced over the course of a week, as well as by the storytelling and themes found in the anime Yu Yu Hakusho.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I plotted the story by formatting my story like a manga first.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
One of the authors who influenced me was Somaiya Daud, in the Mirage series.

What are you working on now?
I’m working on a mystery thriller and a manga at the moment.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
For new authors, my best advice is to keep writing even when it feels rough. Don’t wait for perfection, because perfection comes from consistency. Read as much as you can across different genres, because it sharpens your voice.

Clarity comes from action, not thought.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The next step in my journey as a writer is expanding into manga creation.

Interview With Author Melanie Rhora

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and for the last several years I’ve called Nova Scotia home. My family and I are in the middle of a big transition now ~ moving to Costa Rica. It’s me, my husband, our teenage son, as well as our two fur babies, a dog and a cat! I’m so excited to be on this new adventure together.

I have self-published four books and written seven in total. Some of my earlier works are no longer publicly available, though a couple can still be found floating around online. Each one was a stepping stone that led me to my most current and heart-aligned work, The Phoenix Path: A Woman’s Guide to Healing, Rebuilding, and Rising Stronger. I’m also one of the authors in the collaborative best-seller With Grace and Grit: Inspirational Stories for Entrepreneurial Women.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Before writing my latest book, The Phoenix Path, life threw me a series of curveballs. I ran a very successful digital agency, but I was working around the clock, sacrificing my life in the name of success. I was overwhelmed by the pressure to be everything to everyone. For years, I skated on the edge of burnout.

My breaking point came when a devastating house fire shattered the illusion of control I had. I felt broken in every aspect of my life ~ my marriage, family relationships, my health, and even my business was lost. I realized at that time that I hadn’t built a life that supported me, but a cage that kept me small!

I had a choice: I could stay in the ashes of what no longer served me, or rise and rebuild everything — my home, my confidence, my relationships, and my identity. I decided to create a life that supports who I am right now and inspires who I am becoming.

That’s the place I created this book from. It’s not just a memoir and not just a manual. It’s a mix of my stories and the tools that helped me rebuild my life — things like exercises, affirmations, somatic practices, and reflections. My hope is when a woman picks it up, she doesn’t just get inspired, she feels the shift in her body as she rises into the woman she wants to be. It really is the book I wish I had when I didn’t think I could keep going.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m not sure if this counts as unusual, but The Phoenix Path is the first book I’ve written in a remote location. It was always a dream of mine to be that writer who went on retreat to finish her book, and I finally did just that. Most of it was written poolside in Costa Rica. Other guests at the all-inclusive resort would wander over, curious about what I was doing with my computer in such a beautiful place. Once they found out I was writing, some people started bringing me drinks, ice cream, and snacks. I barely had to get up except for the occasional swim to cool off. I’d definitely do it again.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite genre is definitely personal development. I wouldn’t be the person I am now without the insights and inspiration from Gabby Bernstein, Denise Duffield-Thomas, and Tony Robbins. I’d love to have breakfast with Mel Robbins. ‘Let Them Theory’ was the first personal empowerment book I read with my teenage son. I think we’d have the most amazing conversation about resilience, boundaries, and what it truly takes to rise stronger.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m planning a women’s retreat for the end of January based on The Phoenix Path and my training as a Master Circle Facilitator. It is for women who’ve spent years holding it all together and are finally ready to step out of the ashes, set boundaries without guilt, and rise like a phoenix into their own power. We’ll be heading to Costa Rica for this one, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This probably isn’t the answer you want but some days it feels like I’m throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks! What I’ve found is that the most powerful promotion comes from connection. For me, that’s been a mix of guest leading women’s circles, doing interviews, and creating content that really speaks to my reader’s heart. When she sees herself in my story, she wants to dive deeper.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t let perfectionism stop you from publishing your book. Even when you feel it’s finished, the next time you read it you’ll find something you would change. If you make that change and start reading your work again and again, you’ll always find something else. The truth is it will never be perfect. Sheryl Sandberg said, “Done is better than perfect.” And I try to work from that lens. That said, I had 16 versions of The Phoenix Path before I decided I was done.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best “advice” I ever heard didn’t come in the form of a neat little quote. It came from Tim Urban’s TED Talk about the Instant Gratification Monkey. If you haven’t seen it, the monkey takes control of your brain’s steering wheel and won’t let go ~ it pulls you off course into doomscrolling, organizing drawers, or doing literally anything other than the thing you know you really need to be doing. The problem is the monkey only lets go of the driver’s seat when the Panic Monster shows up at the last minute before a deadline.

What struck me most was realizing how many areas in my life don’t actually have a deadline (like self-publishing a book, rebuilding my self-trust, or healing a relationship). So, the Panic Monster never comes, and the monkey just runs wild. That hit me hard.

Now when I catch myself waiting for the “perfect time” to do something that matters, I remind myself: the perfect time isn’t coming. I have to create my own little pockets of accountability. I create a list of the top 3 things I will accomplish each day. I have an accountability buddy that I meet with every week. And sometimes I’ll even put sticky notes on my iPad so I don’t pick it up but instead go do the other thing.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading three books so it depends on my mood. I just started reading Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros for fun. I am finishing up Jefferson Fisher’s The Next Conversation: Argue Less Talk More which I highly recommend to anyone wants to up their conversation game. And lastly, I’m re-reading “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks which is about overcoming our own internal glass ceiling.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I love writing and I have at least three more books in my head. The next one will come out late next year. Its working title is The Queen’s Path: Where Self-Abandonment Ends and Sovereignty Begins.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Only 3 or 4! I think I’d be in trouble!

One would be “Awaken The Giant Within” by Tony Robbins – there is so much great information in there that would help me survive that kind of ordeal. Maybe “May Cause Miracles” from Gabby Bernstein because it would give me something to do every day for 42 days. And an omnibus edition of something long and fictional – like “The Lord of the Rings” from J.R.R. Tolkien. That would keep me busy for quite a while. And of course, The Phoenix Path, because I’m never too far away from my own book and it would be a challenge to rebuild your life on a desert island so a great reminder as I move forward.

Interview With Author Nicholas Schroeder

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a philosopher. Been teaching philosophy for 8 years. Love it. I’m originally from New Orleans, but moved to Fort Collins, CO about a year ago. This would be my first major work as an author. Though I have a few philosophy papers published in academic journals. I’ll probably get some pushback from the professional philosophical community for writing this book, due to its oddity, but I’ve been wanting to do this book for over 10 years.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The new book is Philosophical Mysticism: A Spiritual Handbook for Mankind. I wanted to write something big and bold. I think it’s a big deal. But I’m biased. My inspiration is David Hume’s A Treatise of Human Nature. That’s the biggest and boldest book I can think of. Hume just threw caution to the wind. And of course the intellectuals of his day hated it, at least at first.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in spurts. Don’t really have too much writer’s block. I can write more if I needed. But it sounds much better when I’m inspired.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
All the great philosophers of history. But I do appreciate good writing that is meant for wide seeding. A really well written book that I read as of late is David Chalmers’ Reality+. Really enjoyable book and it covers a lot of ground. Though I’ve been following Chalmers for a while. He’s a good writer and has only gotten better over the years. My weird fascination is reading the supposedly last book of good philosophers. A feel almost guilty that I can enjoy the ultimate culmination of 30-40 years of someone’s hard work in just a dozen hours or so.

What are you working on now?
Mostly been working on the book in question. I am currently recording 100 short videos (about 10 minutes each) on YouTube to supplement the book. Just google Philosophical Mysticism on YouTube. It simplifies the arguments in the book and might be helpful to readers.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Trying to figure that out. I’m sure giving it away for free helps. Not in it for the money. Trying to work on the YouTube channel right now. If I can get people to make it through a 10-minute video. YouTube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/@PhilosophicalMysticism.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
As a new author, I’m on the hunt for advice myself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
As far as advice for being a philosopher and writer, one of the best philosophers I’ve ever met, the distinguished Richard De George, during office hours while I was in grad school at the University of Kansas once told me in response to one of my “safe” term papers to never intentionally weaken one’s own philosophical argument and never to name-drop and give credit/or burden to other philosophers for your own original ideas. Own your arguments and be bold. That advice stuck with me to this day.

What are you reading now?
I’m reading Matt Ridley’s Birds, Sex and Beauty: The Extraordinary Implications of Charles Darwin’s Strangest Idea. He’s my favorite non-philosopher writer.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to get back to publishing regular philosophy papers for a while. But when I get the right inspiration I’m going to finish my fiction novella 6 Billion A.D., about how intelligent life deals with the collapse of the universe 6 billion years from now.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
David Hume’s A Treatise of Human Nature, The Complete Works of Aristotle (if I can cheat), and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Interview With Author Russell Cederberg

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Chicago, the grandson of four Scandinavian immigrants. I grew up in San Diego California and have also lived in Portland and Bend Oregon, Seattle Washington and we spent a year and a half in Stockholm Sweden and six months in England. I’m currently living in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. I’ve been writing since I was 14 years old (it started with bad poetry) and have now published fifty one books. I’m also a musician with six albums of original music, an event and street photographer and an avid genealogist. I’ve been married to my wife Lisa for forty one years.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I just published BEGIN AGAIN a week ago. It is book seven in a Historical Fiction series about two modern day retired guys traveling back to the Viking age. The series was inspired by my own personal connection to Sweden. I have traced a few of my family tree branches back 1000 years and have always been interested in that time period.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Absolutely not. Everything I do is perfectly normal, although when I have what I refer to as a “firehose” day, I’ve been known to write as many as 10,000 words in one sitting. Is this unusual? A typical writing day for me would be 4,000 to 6,000 words, but I have no idea if that’s unusual either.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
CS Lewis would be my favorite author because he is also one of my favorite famous people. I generally prefer authors from 100 years ago or more because of their use of the English language. I love English when it’s used well.

What are you working on now?
I’ve already published 5 books this year so I’m taking a little break, but there are currently about six books on the shelf waiting to be written.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a nincompoop when it comes to promotion and sales.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Write every day. Take your time every time you sit down to write anything, even an email. Make it the very best email it can be. Do everything with determination and excellence, especially when you’re writing something.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writers write

What are you reading now?
Today, nothing at all. I usually take some time off after publishing a book.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to go on a little pilgrimage through Sweden, visiting some of the villages where my ancestors lived in southern Sweden. Boots on the ground always fills my creative tank. We once spent ten weeks in the little town of Betws-y-Coed in Wales and it completely changed me. I wrote a series of nine Modern fantasy books that primarily takes place in that area, as a result of that experience.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bible, Strong’s Concordance, Englishman’s concordance, Chronicles of Narnia (it’s available in one volume).

Interview With Author Robert Barzelay

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am Dutch-Israeli, was born on the date the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted, and the day Nobel Peace Prizes are awarded. Graduate in Political Science, History and Marketing. Semi-retired, with four kids and six grandkids. I speak six languages, visited over 100 countries, lived in 11. I have been employed by emerging companies and multinationals, in positions from salesman to CMO and CEO. I have established business partnerships and my own startups. I am a passionate writer of short stories and am nowadays in demand to evaluate business plans, create marketing materials and organize workshops. My favorite sports are judo, sailing, rowing, water and snow skiing, flying and skydiving.
I have written hundreds of business plans and content for training workshops and websites. Besides that I have written articles for magazines and have doine interviews of politicians. As for books, I have published a book called “Klompen en Kamelen” (“Clogs and Camels”) with 48 short stories in Dutch about experiences, anecdotes and adventures in Israel, written by 30 immigrants from the Netherlands and Belgium of all generations, beliefs and backgrounds. The book included four of my own stories. My latest book is “Blood, Sweat and Dreams”.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Blood, Sweat and Dreams” is my recent book with ten short stories, ranging from fiction, half-fiction and personal events, covering travel, food, culture, an emergency landing, imagination, terrorism and counterterrorism. My past real-life experiences and present circumstances inspired me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write when I have a thought, experience something special which can be a meal, or think back about a place, a meal, a scenery, a person, an incident (I had some nasty ones), an encounter, whatever happens in real-life or in my mind, something that pops up from the past.
In fact I am writing my autobiography right now which is based on reality and actuality. I am going through my life chronologically. Working on this for three years already. All from memory, aided with a diary in which I noted all my flights (to check on frequent flyer miles). When I see Brisbane, I know what I did there, why I was there, where I slept and ate, but often cannot remember names. I wrote “Blood, Sweat and Dreams” as a distraction from my autobiography. I started on a sequel already. Sometimes I throw in obscure poems.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The writers who inspired me most were Frederick Forsyth, Steve Jobs, Baruch Spinoza, Bernard Lewis and Erich Fromm.
As for specific books: 1984; O Jerusalem; Uhuru; Exodus; The Kite Runner; Portnoy’s Complaint; The Ginger Man; The Art of War; Ethica; The Spy Who Came in from the Cold; Atlas Shrugged; In Cold Blood; L’Histoire d’O; Tropic of Cancer; Animal Farm; Don Quixote; The Da Vinci Code.

What are you working on now?
My autobiography “A Chaotic Mix of Experiences”. The good and bad, pleasant and nasty, wild and calm, crazy and sane, successes and failures, survival and near death, dangerous and dreary, obscure and candid. My life story consists of family, relationships, jobs, relocations, food, and travels. Here, there, and everywhere. I lived, saw, heard, breathed, smelled, touched and felt my surroundings, wherever I was.
My autobiography does not only start at my birth, but also describes the history of my ancestors, of course my parents, and theirs, and theirs, and so on, going back to whatever I could find out.
I do have to redact my writing as I already reached 800 pages, and I am not done yet.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My previous Dutch book “Clogs and Camels” was targeted at a very specific audience, but still managed to sell 920 of the 1000 printed. I promoted via a dedicated website, social media, interviews in magazines and papers, handing out flyers in public transport and at sport events, and walking around in a T-shirt with the book title on the back. All proceeds went to two charities.
“Blood, Sweat and Dreams” and eventually my autobiography I want to promote more professionally. Thus far I got friends, school, university and sport buddies, business acquaintances, in fact a small circle interested and buying, but I want to expand my audience.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never stop writing about whatever you see, hear and feel. Then build one or more stories from it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to the world around you.

What are you reading now?
Politics, by Aristotle (a reread).
The Boys from Brazil, by Ira Levis (also a reread)

What’s next for you as a writer?
As I mentioned: finishing my autobiography and work at the same time on a sequel of “Blood, Seat and Dreams”.
