About Avalon Sky by Jill Todd
Some secrets should never be told.
Some crimes can never be forgiven.
Following a private tragedy, TV historian Kit Pevensey and his wife Lissa seek respite in the quiet of rural Somerset, to compile a village history for a friend. But when their friend vanishes without a trace, the Pevenseys’ research stirs memories of dangerous secrets. Amid the deceptive peace of the Somerset Levels and Lundy Island, a killer plans the perfect murder – and Kit must face his own demons, while battling to prevent the crimes of the past from tearing a family apart.

Author Bio:
I’ve been writing since I was a child, and finished my first novel (never published) at twenty-one. I had a historical novel published while working full-time, but consigned a couple more efforts to the loft while juggling work and family commitments with writing as a hobby.
My first thriller, Echo of Bells, was published in 2016. Since retiring in 2023, I’ve been able to write full-time – so I plan to make Avalon Sky the first in a series. I’m now well into the next book and hope to publish it next year.
Although the characters and events in my books are pure invention, one aspect of Avalon Sky is drawn from real life. Twenty-five years ago, my husband and four friends won a microlight aircraft kit in a competition. The Jabiru took three years to build and my husband still flies it today – although, unlike its fictional twin, ours has never played a part in solving a crime. We hope to keep it that way!
I like to set my stories in atmospheric UK landscapes, so couldn’t resist using Lundy Island in Avalon Sky. The island is ten miles offshore and seems almost untouched by the modern world. It’s one of my favourite places, and provided the perfect location for the climax to a thriller.
