Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
very J. Longley has been a writer for as long as she can remember – first ‘publishing’ in the first grade, and then again the following year. She still has copies of both of these books, even though they’re largely illegible.
The Blizzard Chronicles, starting with Just Another Season is the culmination of several years efforts, many rewrites, and a great deal of editing. She hopes you enjoy reading these stories and getting to know these characters as much as she enjoyed. 2 additional books in the series are written and ready to be published as well.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Just Another Season – I’m not sure there was an inspiration exactly. It’s just been a story floating around my head in some form or another for the better part of 10 years!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to let the story write itself, which has led to some unusual outcomes for me. For example, in my soon to be published book, the ‘main male’ was supposed to be his cousin’s “wingman”. It didn’t turn out that way at all!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Any good hockey romance novels
What are you working on now?
The 4th book in The Blizzard Chronicles.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My own FB page? Good question. I’m still a newbie at all of this!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Lame, I know, but so many times I’ve wanted to just chuck this all away and I haven’t…
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read your book. Then read it again. And read it a few more times. Read it until your eyes bleed and you’re certain there are no more mistakes. Then, and only then, hand it over to someone else to read.
What are you reading now?
Waiting to read Las Vegas Sidewinders: Toli & Tessa (Las Vegas Sidewinders, #6).
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to work on The Blizzard Chronicles (there are 8 books planned currently).
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Hockey romance books. None in specific. Just something to make me think of somewhere cold since I can’t stand the heat!
