Interview With Author Avery Vale
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am Avery Vale, a writer with a passion for exploring themes of resilience, personal growth, and the pursuit of lasting happiness. Writing allows me to share the insights and lessons I’ve gathered throughout my life, and my goal is to inspire readers to transform their thinking and create lives filled with purpose and joy.
Transformation to Happiness is my debut book, a project that has been a labour of love and a culmination of years of reflection. It blends a compelling narrative with actionable strategies to empower readers to navigate life’s challenges and find inner peace. Writing this book has been a deeply rewarding experience, and I look forward to continuing my journey as an author, crafting stories and lessons that resonate with readers.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled Transformation to Happiness. The inspiration for this book came from a deep desire to explore how we can find true happiness, even amidst life’s most challenging moments. Over the years, I’ve reflected on how shifting one’s mindset can dramatically change how we experience the world. This idea—rooted in timeless wisdom and personal growth principles—became the foundation of the book.
I was also inspired by the resilience I’ve seen in others and the strength we all have within us to overcome hardships. Through storytelling and practical insights, I wanted to create a guide that helps readers not just survive but thrive, finding a balance and fulfillment that transcends external circumstances. Writing Transformation to Happiness has been a deeply personal and rewarding journey, and I’m excited to share it with the world.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My writing style for Transformation to Happiness is unusual in that I’ve woven storytelling into what is traditionally a straightforward self-help subject. The reason for this is simple: I’m asking readers to rethink lifelong patterns of thought—beliefs they’ve held since childhood. That’s no small task! Storytelling helps make these profound shifts more accessible and relatable. By immersing readers in the journey of a character like Jesse, they can see the principles come alive in ways that resonate deeply.
Though I don’t explicitly mention it in the book, my narrative is inspired by the biblical story of Joseph. His journey is a rich tapestry of resilience, redemption, and finding purpose despite enormous challenges. These timeless lessons align beautifully with the themes of happiness and inner peace I explore in Transformation to Happiness. This blend of storytelling and practical insights is what makes my writing both unique and impactful.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The biblical story of Joseph has been a profound influence on my writing, especially in Transformation to Happiness. His resilience, ability to find meaning in hardship, and belief in a greater purpose mirror the core themes of my book, demonstrating how challenges can lead to growth and fulfillment.
Another significant influence is Duties of the Heart by Bachya, an obscure yet extraordinary work originally written in Arabic in the 11th century. Despite being centuries old, its insights into mindfulness, purpose, and reliance on something beyond our immediate consciousness are strikingly relevant to today’s world. The book offers timeless wisdom that has shaped my understanding of how to cultivate inner peace and meaning in life.
These influences have guided my belief that true happiness comes from shifting our perspective and embracing principles of resilience and purpose, no matter the challenges we face.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a book about prayer, with a focus on making it relevant and meaningful to both religious and non-religious readers. For me, prayer is primarily about transforming ourselves and the way we relate to the world around us. When done properly, it has the power to change us for the better—helping us develop greater mindfulness, compassion, and resilience.
This book will explore how prayer can be a practical tool for personal growth and inner balance, offering insights and approaches that anyone can benefit from, regardless of their beliefs. I’m excited about the potential for this project to open new perspectives and foster meaningful change in readers’ lives.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
As a new author, I’m still finding my way in the world of book promotion, but I have to say, Awesome Gang has been amazing! The platform makes it easy to connect with readers and share my work, and the support they offer authors is truly invaluable. It’s been a great starting point for me as I learn how to promote my books effectively. I’m grateful for the opportunity to feature my work here and look forward to continuing this journey with the help of Awesome Gang!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice for new authors is to simply start writing and not overthink it. The first draft doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to exist. Writing consistently, even if it’s just a small amount each day, will help you build momentum and bring your ideas to life.
It’s also important to be open to feedback. Share your work with trusted readers or editors and take their constructive criticism seriously. Their insights can often highlight areas for improvement that you may not have noticed on your own.
Understanding your audience is another key aspect. Think about who you’re writing for and what they might be looking for in a book like yours. While staying true to your vision, try to craft your work in a way that resonates with them and adds value to their lives.
Writing and promoting a book is a process with its own learning curve. Be patient with yourself and embrace the challenges along the way. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new ideas or approaches, both in your writing and in your promotional efforts.
Lastly, connect with other authors. Platforms like Awesome Gang are a great way to meet fellow writers and share experiences. The encouragement and advice from a supportive community can make a huge difference as you navigate your journey. Most importantly, remember to enjoy the process and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Writing a book is a remarkable accomplishment!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever come across comes from the story of Joseph and Duties of the Heart by Bachya. Both teach a powerful and transformative lesson: that every challenge we face is ultimately there to help us grow and become better people. This perspective shifts how we view difficulties, transforming them from obstacles to opportunities for personal development and deeper understanding.
Embracing this mindset has had a profound impact on my life and my writing. It’s a constant reminder that even in the hardest moments, there’s a purpose behind the struggle, and it’s up to us to uncover the growth waiting on the other side.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading A History of the American People by Paul Johnson. American history captivates me because it highlights two powerful ideas: the founding fathers’ belief in something beyond themselves, which led to a nation far more successful than they could have dreamed, and the natural growth that occurs when people work with challenges rather than against them. Johnson masterfully brings these themes to life, showing how resilience, vision, and embracing difficulties have shaped the United States. It’s a thought-provoking and inspiring exploration of history.
What’s next for you as a writer?
As a writer, I’m excited to continue exploring themes that inspire personal growth and transformation. My next project is a book about prayer, which I hope will resonate with a broad audience, including those who don’t identify as religious. I believe prayer is primarily about changing ourselves and how we relate to the world, and when done properly, it has the power to transform us for the better.
This new book will aim to make prayer accessible and meaningful, offering practical insights and perspectives that can enrich anyone’s life, regardless of their background or beliefs. Beyond that, I look forward to continuing to write books that blend storytelling with actionable insights, helping readers navigate life’s challenges with resilience and purpose. The journey is just beginning, and I’m eager to see where it leads!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d take the Book of Genesis, a prayer book, Duties of the Heart, and a survival guide. The Book of Genesis, with its narratives of challenge and reaction, provides profound insights into how difficulties can lead to valuable outcomes—a perfect companion for navigating the emotional and mental trials of isolation. A prayer book would offer spiritual grounding and connection, helping me maintain inner strength and hope. Duties of the Heart would guide me in cultivating mindfulness, purpose, and happiness, even amidst the solitude and daily survival struggles. Lastly, a survival guide would provide the practical tools to face the physical challenges of finding food, building shelter, and staying safe. Together, these books would help me approach the challenges of being a castaway with resilience, meaning, and a sense of happiness despite the circumstances.
