About Baron & Brannigan, Book 1 Song and Dance by Edward Farber
It’s the Gilded Age
The 1890s. Young entertainers Billy Brannigan and Daniel Baron set out on the road to fame and fortune only to meet misadventures and mayhem along the way. Unexpected detours take them from Doc Noble’s Midwest medicine show
to a traveling minstrel show and finally to their destination—the gas-lit stages of old New York’s gaudy music halls and vaudeville theaters. As they hone their song and dance act, they mix with talented performers, willing show girls, zany song writers and popular celebrities of the era including champion boxer John L. Sullivan in a walk-on role.
Both find romance. Billy squires beautiful Lily Langford and Danny pines for Claire Noble, but each discovers that love, like life, seldom follows the chosen path. When stardom is within reach, calamity strikes threatening to end their dream and their friendship.
