Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Dawn Fildes. Originally from England I now live in beautiful Alberta Canada. I write fantasy and paranormal under the pen name Beatrice de Cecil. I’ve been writing “seriously” since 2012 and have published three books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Lilith’s Fury, Born of Gods.
She was inspired by an unusual vivid dream, but by the time I finished there was only one line in the book which had any indication of the dream.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
A few.
I’ll often act out a character’s physical stance or emotional reaction and run by my dog what I’m doing and ask her what she thinks. My husband works away so I have to make do with the audience I have!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Enid Blyton was the first author I can remember reading as a child. But as an adult I fell in love with Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. It’s my all time favourite book. Charles Dickens is also up there.
Moving into the modern era, I’m partial to a bit of smut with a good story line.
J.R. Ward – The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of my favourites and more recently I’ve exhausted Charlene Hartnady’s work.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on book 2 in the Born of Gods series, Delilah’s Fire. All being well, it will be ready to publish April 2019.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still doing my research and will let you know. I’ve given Books Butterfly and OTOH books a go with decent results.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Get reviews before you publish. Crazy, but true.
What are you reading now?
Rite to Reign. It’s a boxed paranormal set.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Perhaps explore another genre to write, possibly paranormal romance.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Wuthering Heights (of course).
Great Expectations
