Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a thirty year law enforcement officer, firefighter, medic as well as hopeful children’s and early teen author. My series The Spruce Hollow Gang Adventures are the perfect combination of history and fiction. There are eight books in the series at this time available on Amazon and Kindle. The books in order are A Titanic Adventure, A Gettysburg Adventure, The Shenandoah Amusement Park Adventure, The Anne Frank Adventure, The Russian Snowman Adventure, The Native American Adventure, The Mountain Feud Adventure, and The Salem Witch Hunt Adventure.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Spruce Hollow Gang Adventures, The Salem Witch Hunt Adventure is my most recent in the series. I wanted to put a new spin on the historical events surrounding the deaths of many innocent people during the Salem witch trials. I wanted my young readers to realize that many time throughout history and even in our time people are victimized over false accusations, irrational fears and misunderstandings.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, I write in a way that my readers can feel they are characters in my stories and part of the gang.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Edward Stratemeyer the creator of the Hardy Boys series.
What are you working on now?
I currently have three more Spruce Hollow Gang Adventures I am working on. However, I do not plan to release any more stories until I can get the ones I have into the publics eye.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This has been an issue, I have found if you do not have a lot of money to pay for agents or to self publish you are up against a real challenge.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
For me writing the books and creating the stories is the easy part. Getting them out on the market to the public has been next to impossible. It is a shame there are not publishers that will give unknown authors a chance. I submitted my books to several traditional publishers. I received some great reviews from them about the characters and the way the stories flowed with excitement. However, it has been the same old story, I am a new author and unknown so they will not take a chance on me. How can you get the chance in the first place is the question. Do not give up and continue to chase your dreams. I have been trying to break into the market since 2014 and I am still trying.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t give up.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading a true story about the holocaust.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope my books will become known and I am able to continue the series for several years to come.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Bible, The Anne frank Diaries, It and Something is Alive on the Titanic.
