Interview With Author Bert Molner
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Greetings book friends. I kept getting told “you should write a book” after achieving being ranked as #1 for new firm growth out of almost 14,000 offices world wide, as a financial advisor. With a degree in Building Construction Management and Architecture, I built houses for 18 years, and was responsible for coordinating the world’s largest international housing shipment (over 12,000 homes). So that helped me become #2 in the state for most mortgages being written as well. From there I was recruited as the VP of a real estate development company where I grew the firm from being #1,473 in the county, to being #1 (in 30 counties in the northern half of the state). I enjoy teaching and training entrepreneurs about effective marketing to grow their profits and achieve huge goals. I have now authored 8 books and ghost written several for others. Now I have a business partner who is a brilliant technology expert.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Ask the REAL Estate Expert – How to MAXIMIZE Your Home Appraisal Value – Best Strategies for Increasing Your Property Profits in Any Market.” This book was inspired by seeing so many of my real estate clients who were having to put their listings “back on the market” (with a new lower appraised value). Home appraisals are VERY subjective and can have quite a wide range of values. As a property investor myself, I had learned several insider trade secrets about how to get the values to appraise out on the high end of the market – by implementing several key strategies. So I decided to help others achieve the same valuable goals.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to create holding files where I can gather intel over time. Once I have enough quotes, statistics, aha moments, then I research the questions that readers are struggling with on that topic and start to develop the outline and curriculum.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My friend Dr. Bill Danko (The Millionaire Next Door) taught me a lot about not relying on assumptions and to do my own research. Lou Holtz (Notre Dame Football Coach) taught me that you don’t have to be the biggest baddest football player to be able to coach and inspire a winning team. And the Power of Full Engagement taught me how to keep at peak “business athlete” mental form.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on perfecting the expansion of my paper back books to be successful Audio and E-books (so more readers can consume my content in their preferred method of learning enjoyment).
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to have everything evolve (center spoke) around my own website. That way whenever technology or rules change, I don’t lose my whole marketing platform from someone else’s website.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t write about what you want to write about. Find out what large groups of readers are yearning for. When you find a topic that you have some knowledge on, then do some research to strengthen your knowledge, and write about that topic. In many cases, it doesn’t really matter what’s “in” the book. What matters most is the topic, the book cover, the title/sub-title, and the key words people are already searching for.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Good luck takes a lot of hard work.
