Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a licensed Professional Engineer, US Naval Academy alumni, 100% disabled veteran. I’ve published two textbooks with McGraw-Hill on energy conservation + a dozen or KDP self-published titles. Six more titles are screenplays I have written, all thrillers.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
1001 Energy Tips (second edition) from Dorrance Publishing. Energy conservation has been my passion for 40 years. My tips idea began with 30-second radio spots on a local AM station in Austin TX back in 1996, “BTU Bill’s Energy Tips.”
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My favorite writing spot is at the dining room table using a giant monitor (I have vision issues).
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nietzsche is my favorite. Very real, very though provoking.
What are you working on now?
I already have an offer for “1001 Energy Tips for Small Business Owners.” I also post 2-3 columns on my website each day https://whclark.com
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My own website, https://whclark.com I use that URL for all the print and media ads I buy. If they don’t purchase the book then maybe they will visit the website often!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Aim high but expect low.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Damn the torpedoes – full steam ahead!
What are you reading now?
Voice training books so I can start a podcast.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Promoting 1001 Energy Tips. The next draft of my best screenplay, HELSTAF.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, King James version; my favorite graduate math book from grad school, Fundamentals of Engineering Mathematics; The Zen of Gravity, a book I wrote on celestial mechanics (so I can keep working on the theories); Theory of Orbits, a celestial mechanics classic from one of my old professors in grad school.
