Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a woman of a certain age-73-and I’ve written and published about 55 romances, a couple of memoirs and two kid’s books. After many adventures and several divorces I once again live in the small coal mining town where I was born.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest published book is actually a trilogy called RUNNING WILD. The books are romantic comedy, and one (ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT) is about phone sex. I never actually worked that job myself, but I had a dear friend who was ordered on bed rest when she was pregnant, and she did it very successfully.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I go to Focusatwill.com, and have classical music playing really low while I write. It helps.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nancy Warren, a fellow romance writer, is always an inspiration. We talk almost daily, and thrash out plot problems and bounce ideas off one another. I read voraciously, incessantly, and from nearly every book I learn something.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing the second book in a series based in the Canadian Prairies around 1896. The first, A Lantern In The Window, came out of stories my mother told me.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am sooo bad at promotion. By the time I hear about a hot new method, it’s yesterday’s news. So I write the best books I can and I pray a lot.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read. Read some more. Write. Write some more. The more you do a thing, the better you get at it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write quantity. Let the Universe do quality.
What are you reading now?
Birthdays of a Princess, by Helga Zeiner. Read one of her others, Section 132, and found it gripping, disturbing and honest. Also well written.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More in the Lantern Series. A Christmas story. Getting the last sentence of the last book down before I graduate.
What is your favorite book of all time?
A Course In Miracles.
