Interview With Author Bolo Bamidele
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Bolo Bamidele is a poet, storyteller, and A Data Analyst, with a deep-rooted passion for social impact and cultural exploration. His work spans two continents — the vibrant streets of Lagos, Nigeria and the structured chaos of the UK, where his professional journey as an operations expert and data analyst has shaped his understanding of the human condition.
As a foundation, Bolo is dedicated to improving the lives of children battling cancer in Nigeria, while also mentoring and guiding the next generation through a youth mentorship initiative.
Through his poetry, Bolo aims to share the stories of the silences we often overlook, the laughter we once shared, and the moments that define us, despite our best efforts to forget.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Ashes and Echoes.
It was born out of stillness — in those in-between hours when life feels loud, yet no one is speaking. It is a collection of poems that reflect the aftermath of our choices (the ashes) and the lingering whispers of moments that shaped us (the echoes).
The inspiration came from a mix of personal introspection, lived experiences across cultures, and my African roots — braided tightly with themes of time, love, loss, and becoming.
I wanted to capture the quiet grief of growth, the beauty in heartbreak, and the fire that often follows silence. Ashes and Echoes is my attempt to hold space for anyone who has ever asked: “Is it just me?”
And in the end, it says, “No — it’s all of us, in fragments, trying to heal and create something whole.”
