Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny by Jeremy Clift
In the year 2068, as Earth teeters on the brink of environmental and political collapse, one woman’s act of generosity becomes the spark for humanity’s next great leap—and her own cosmic ordeal.
When Teagan Ward donates her eggs to science, she believes she’s helping to secure a future for humankind. Years later, she learns the shocking truth: seven children, born from her genetic material, were created aboard an orbital laboratory as part of a bold experiment to seed life beyond Earth. Each child has been engineered for survival in deep space—and each has been taken from her.
Determined to reunite with them, Teagan launches into a desperate odyssey across the solar frontier. Her quest pits her against powerful adversaries: a ruthless mining magnate exploiting the Moon’s riches, a morally conflicted geneticist obsessed with creation at any cost, and a fallen general seeking redemption through domination.
As Teagan navigates treacherous alliances, political manipulation, and the raw dangers of off-world survival, she uncovers a secret that could alter the course of human evolution. Her seven children—known as the Magnificent Seven—may hold the key to unlocking humanity’s destiny among the stars.
At its heart, Born in Space: Unlocking Destiny is a story of maternal love, sacrifice, and redemption. It explores what it means to be human when humanity itself is engineered and commodified.
For readers drawn to the emotional depth of Interstellar and the visionary scope of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Jeremy Clift’s novel is a riveting fusion of science, suspense, and soul—a journey through the outer reaches of space and the inner reaches of the human heart.

Author Bio:
Jeremy Clift is a science fiction author and former journalist. His first work of fiction, “Born in Space” is part of his Sci-Fi Galaxy series of novels built around the growth of orbiting space habitats and the exploitation of asteroids. The sequel, “Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse” was published in 2025. “Born in Space” examines what life might be like for the first children born off Earth. “How would they feel? Would they have a terrible craving to return “home”? Or are they really an extraterrestrial, a space being? Still a humanoid but having none of the experiences of the Earth.” The subsequent book examines identity in an age of genetic engineering. Who owns Life?
