Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a 23-year-old male who grew up in a world created by books. I want to get kids off of their video game consoles occasionally and dive into a book. I currently have two published works with two more in progress.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My most recent book is entitled “The Silver City”. I’ve always been interested in Egypt. The mystery of the tombs and pyramids have always been intriguing. I finally wrote a book that was partially based on real events from 2016. There was a question as to whether or not their may be hidden chambers in the tomb of King Tutankhamun. So, I took that and ran with it!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmm… I honestly don’t do anything too off the wall. I usually write from 6am-8am every single day. For some people that like their sleep that may sound terrible and possibly unusual I suppose.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up I read a lot of Agatha Christie and Brian Jacques. Also, Philip Reeve’s Hungry City Chronicles was one of my favorite series. Very excited to see Mortal Engines hit the big screen soon!
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the sequels to both of my published books. My first book, “The Outsmarted” is coming along at a quicker pace since that is where I’m focusing my energy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Booklemur is amazing for free book promotions. $35.00 with them got me 880 downloads in one day and got me up to #6 in my category. They are great!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. I literally have a document on my desktop with that very title. Whatever your mind comes up, with write it down! When you are ready to let the words flow into a book… do it! Also, it’s never to late to become an author. Anyone can do it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do one thing, do it very well, then move on.
What are you reading now?
My own books for editing and refining purposes.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Creating more and more YA books for people to enjoy! I’m only on the tip of the iceberg.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Mortal Engines – Philip Reeve
And Then There Were None – Agatha Christie
