What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled A Godless Love. The inspiration for it comes from my background growing up in a religious cult and the control they have over their member’s lives including the sexual lives of married couples.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
While writing, I sometimes stop to take 3 or 4 mile walks while listening to RuPaul. I find his music inspiring.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
A few of my favorite that have had an impact on my life are The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb; The Brooklyn Follies by Paul Auster and The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule.
What are you working on now?
The second installment to My Life as I Knew It, the first book in a time travel series. The second book is entitled Life, As Is.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Instagram and mass email.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Throughout my life, I’ve always loved writing but never shared my work with others until a couple of years ago because I was self conscious. When I finally did showcase my work it was such a freeing experience. If you want to write, don’t let what others think of you stop you. Just do it. Some will appreciate your writing, others won’t. Ignore the people that don’t appreciate it. Do it for yourself.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want to be a writer, then start writing!
What are you reading now?
It by Stephen King.
What’s next for you as a writer?
In a couple of weeks I am doing a radio interview on The Author’s Show.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The three I mentioned above.
