Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and have been writing since I was thirteen years old. I have published two previous titles, Sloan’s Quest and Sloan’s Return. Angel of Man is my third book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My new release is titled Angel of Man. I got the idea for this book several years ago during a trip to Hilton Head Island. I was walking on the beach, trying to come up with a concept for a new book. Since my previous two books were detective stories I was looking for something different. The idea of writing about the Angel of Death just came to me. The story developed from there.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
For a long time I wrote the first draft of whatever I was writing in longhand. Angel of Man is my first book that was written entirely on a computer. It is the way I intend to do it from now on.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I knew I wanted to be a writer at the age of thirteen when I read The Shining by Stephen King. Since then I have read virtually everything he has written, with The Stand being my favorite (It’s a masterpiece!) I love the way he grabs you right from the first chapter and never lets you go, taking you along on the ride with him. I can only hope to be half as good at that as he is someday.
What are you working on now?
My next project is called Silver Falls. It is about genetically created werewolves that take over a small town, trapping it’s residents withing it’s borders.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is my first attempt at promoting a book myself so I am still learning how all of this will come together.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. I can’t tell you how many times I have started and stopped projects over the years. Also, write for yourself first! If you like what you write that should be enough. Everything else is icing on the cake.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Grammar and punctuation matter. It won’t matter how good the idea is if it is covered up with errors.
What are you reading now?
White Knight by Jim Butcher. It is book 9 in the Harry Dresden series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to complete and release a book a year. I want to build my catalog on Amazon. Having Angel of Man made into a movie wouldn’t be bad either!
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. The Stand by Stephen King
2. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
3. Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin
4. The Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
