Author Bio:
Rachel Aaron is an American author of fantasy and science fiction. She has written several series of novels, including the Heartstrikers, the Legend of Eli Monpress, the DFZ, the Paradox Trilogy, and the Crystal Calamity. She also writes under the pen name Rachel Bach.
She was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she developed a passion for reading and writing from a young age. Her parents encouraged her to explore different genres and styles of books, which influenced her diverse and imaginative storytelling. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English Literature in 2004.
Her most popular series is the Heartstrikers, which she started in 2014. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world where magic has returned and dragons rule the cities. The protagonist is Julius, the youngest and nicest dragon in his clan, who has to prove himself to his ruthless family and make friends with a human mage named Marci. The series has five books and has won the Best Fantasy Audie Award in 2016 for the first book, Nice Dragons Finish Last.
Her latest series is the DFZ, which takes place after the events of the Heartstrikers. The series focuses on Opal, a young mage who works as a cleaner in the Detroit Free Zone, a city ruled by a powerful spirit. Opal has to deal with magic, crime, and debt, as well as her complicated relationship with her father, who is a famous dragon.
