Interview With Author C.E. Bass
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an independent author publishing under the imprint Ark Dove Press. I am An Orthodox Christian, and I write faith driven novels from a biblical worldview, in hopes of inspiring and help my readers navigate through the ever-changing world.
I have published one book, released on Amazon in February of 2023
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is The Tollhouse Trials. The inspiration for this story comes from the passing of my parents and what happens to our souls after we pass from this life to the next.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if this is unusual, but prior to writing I light a candle, then take a moment to pray, asking God for His guidance.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I enjoy C.S Lewis, the writings of Milton, Michael Crichton, William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist and the writings from variety of Orthodox Christian priests and Saints.
What are you working on now?
The working title is “Sing a new song.” It’s clean romance and redemption story about Christian musicians.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
At this point in my career, I’m using a budget marketing plan. I set a budget to market my book and then find the services, for example Awesome Gang, to promote my book. It is very important that these websites work with independent authors.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Find what works best for you. Every writer is different. Some are plotters, some pantsers, some like to write their first draft on paper, others on programs like Scrivener. Some like to write at night others in the early morning hours. None of that matters. All that matters is sitting down, turn off the world and write. And treat this as career , not a hobby.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“There’s a secret that real writers know that wannabe writers don’t, and the secret is this: It’s not the writing part that’s hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write. What keeps us from sitting is resistance…if not defeated resistance will bury you.” Steven Pressfield from The War of Art.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading “Damnation Alley.” It’s a science fiction novel by Roger Zelazny.
What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me as a writer is continuing to learn my craft, publish three books in 2023 and start a series.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring The Bible, The Illiad and Pilgrim’s Progress.
