Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Have you ever seen the movie Anger Management? Remember the scene where Jack Nicholson asks Adam Sandler to tell him about himself. Adam Sandler starts listing off a bunch of superficial qualities. He says “No, tell us who you are.” No matter what Adam Sandler says it’s not the right answer. That’s what I think of when I ask myself that question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-GV46SUcWs. Does that say anything about me? Oh… and I just published my first book… so… one.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Thin Line Between Love and Lust: A Poly Romance Novel. People from my past inspired it. I wanted to relive all the wonderful moments I’ve had, and then throw in some of my fantasies and dreams to create a story that speaks from me.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if it’s unusual… it may be common, but I binge write. I credit the muse. But sometime she comes to me, and at those times I write from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep. And I’m so excited about all the thoughts I need to get on paper that I sleep very little then I’m back at it again.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Shel Silverstein, Where The Sidewalk Ends. I have a very strange affinity.
What are you working on now?
An epic story. I can’t get into it too much because it’s still unfolding. But I would liken it to something like if you were to mix the bible (the lesser advertised stories), with Game of Thrones.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not sure yet. This weekend will be my first major promotion so I don’t know which avenue will be most successful. So far, simply Facebook friends and group members have been my reach. Hoping to expand that greatly of the next few days.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I’m new myself so don’t know how much it’s worth, all I can say is stick to it. Believe in yourself and your work and know that you have something valuable to offer the world. That thought and belief is what motivates to do more than simply write something and hide it away in my closet.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Really? The best advice I’ve EVER heard? Jesus. I’d have to consider that for a VERY long time.
What are you reading now?
My own book. What a shitty answer I know. But I just received some paperbacks in the mail today. So I’m giving it a fresh read.
What’s next for you as a writer?
This. What I’m doing here and now. Actually trying to get the world out and actually do something with my writing besides hid it away.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Well we’ve already discussed Where The Sidewalk Ends. Hmm… The Toa Te Ching. Some type of book about how to survive stranded alone on a desert island. And whatever issue of Playboy that had Vanessa Williams in it. That did happen right? I should probably go google that real quick before I regret my book choice.
