Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a long time reader but only recently put in the work and finished my First novella. I am planning a series based around the main character.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It is called The Scions Of Fenrir. It came from a lot of places. I love urban fantasy so my mind goes to that a lot. I also have always loved werewolves. The power and ferocity of them is great. I used my home town as the setting because I know it so well and it felt like a good place to start. The main character is a blend of lots of reluctant hero influences mixed with my own personality. He speaks with a voice very similar to my own.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing strange. My writing is extremely sporadic. I’ll go days without writing and then drop twenty pages in one night. I tend to build the framework in my head and then turn it over and over until I have something
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The first fantasy book I ever read was Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Weis And Hickman. That pulled me into fantasy and I have never looked back. The Dresden Files introduced me to Urban fantasty. Butcher’s books are so fun and filled with full vibrant characters. Robert Jordon’s The Wheel of Time is one of my all time favorite epic stories. Brandon Sanderson is a genius at building insanely vivid worlds. His books are amazing. John G. Hartness showed me the possibilities of the shorter form stories and showed me how absolutely fun Urban Fantasy can be.
What are you working on now?
I am working on the next book in my Wolf’s Heart Journals series. It’s a bit of a step backward in the timeline and explores the origin of Kevin’s main weapon, his magical Colt 1911. For obvious reasons it is titled The Colt
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That is to be seen. But so far social media has been good.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write everyday and do not be afraid to deleted and rewrite if things aren’t working.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Take life in small bites. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t achieve everything right this second.
What are you reading now?
The third book in the Star Wars Aftermath Trilogy
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue on this series and start work on another character in the same universe
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive

Calhoun I love the name choice! That main character seems awfully familiar to me.
