Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name’s Candra Baguley and I’m the author of 2 scifi novels, with a 3rd currently in the works.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
TRANSMISSIONS TO TITAN was inspired by the idea of merging artificial intelligence with human evolution. It’s about the possibilities of colonizing a new place using memory uploading and A.I. and leaving the destructiveness of humans behind.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’d say most most unusual writing habit I have is writing with Christmas lights on, but the room light off. Something about the setting helps me think and write better.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.K. Rowling is a major influence in my life, especially as a writer. The novel Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell influenced my approach to writing TRANSMISSIONS TO TITAN.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently writing the sequel to TRANSMISSIONS TO TITAN. A release date will be announced on my website, when it’s ready.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use social media to connect with readers and other writers. I also have a Goodreads Author profile for reviews and other information.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Whatever happens, keep writing. You’re going to get better the more you refine your talent.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read your work aloud for editing purposes.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading Old Man’s War by John Scalzi after a fan of TRANSMISSIONS TO TITAN recommended it to me
What’s next for you as a writer?
Another book, of course! Ideas come to me everyday, but I refuse to work on anything else until the sequel is finished.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, Complete Poems and Tales by Edgar Allan Poe, and my books. If I didn’t want to get lost in the worlds I create then I wouldn’t be a very good writer, now would I?
