Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m the creator of The Chase Fulton Novels series, an ongoing series of 12 books as of 2020 with plans for at least 30 in the series. Additionally, I’ve recently begun a new spin-off series entitled Avenging Angel – Seven Deadly Sins series. Book one in Avenging Angel is The Russian’s Pride and scheduled for release on December 21st of 2020.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Russian’s Pride is my most recent book. It is book one in the Avenging Angel – Seven Deadly Sins series and features one of the most popular characters from my Chase Fulton Novels series, Anastasia “Anya” Burinkova, a former SVR assassin who defected to the United States. Anya’s popularity in my original series inspired the spin-off.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a “Pantser,” meaning I write entirely by the seat of my pants with no outline or plan of any kind. Writing this way makes the story just as fascinating and exciting for me as it is for my readers. I actually feel sorry for the writers who know how their stories will end. That sounds like a horribly disappointing way to tell a story.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a huge fan of John D. MacDonald’s Travis McGee series. I also enjoy James Lee Burke, John Grisham, Wayne Stinnett, Stuart Woods, W.E.B. Griffin, Lee Child, Brad Thor, and dozens more.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on book #13 in the Chase Fulton Novels series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I spend the bulk of my advertising dollars on Facebook ads, but Awesome Gang is always a go-to when I’m running promotions or specials.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write, write, write! Don’t get discouraged. Hire a professional editor. Don’t let yourself be tricked into believing that traditional publishing is the only route. Self-Publishing is the way of the future and results in a far more than comfortable income for me and thousands of other indie authors.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write even when you don’t feel like writing. You can’t call yourself a writer unless you write, so do it.
What are you reading now?
John Grisham’s “A Time for Mercy.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to keep my nose to the grindstone and publish at least five books every year for the foreseeable future. I’m madly in love with the craft of writing and never plan to stop.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Old Man and the Sea, The Bible, War and Peace (it’s a long book, and I could use the pages to start fires), Don Quixote, and The Idiot’s Guide to Getting Rescued from a Desert Island.
