Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Cuba and came to the United States while still in my teens. After finishing high school I attended school at Concord College, West Virginia University and the University of Maryland. All my studies focused on literature.
I have written a total of fifteen books, both in English and Spanish. A lot more information can be found in my official website.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Faded Dreams is a memoir of my early years in Cuba. Although I never intended to write this book, my children convinced me to do so.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None. I like to work in the morning, if possible.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The work of Albert Camus, Jose Lezama Lima and Alejo Carpentier. In English I enjoy very much the work of Aldous Huxley.
What are you working on now?
I am about to start working on a book of short stories
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have my own personal website.

Believe in yourself and be patient.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write for yourself.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I will be happy if I can complete the project I am about to undertake. I also have two unpublished Spanish-language novels that I am trying to place with a publishing house.
