Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Northern Ireland, emigrated to Canada in my late 20’s, then to the USA in my late 30’s. I always wanted to return to Northern Ireland and got my wish 6 years exactly ago. In Canada, I started writing and, after the first book was finished, I found I had an idea for another story, then another, then another, until I had completed seven full length novels. They are in a series, now called The Bathville Books and the first in the series “Murder is Just the Beginning” came out in print in February 2017. The second in the series “The Revenge” came out in October 2017 and you can find both on Amazon all over the world. I’m working hard on updating the third in the series, “The Consequences” to hopefully be available in the summer of 2018. I enjoy writing very much and, although I work full time in the Education Authority in Northern Ireland, I still make the time to write. I worked in both Canada and the United States as a medical secretary to various medical professionals and enjoyed my work there very much, as well as the life experiences I was fortunate to have. My husband, Mark, is American and he loves living in Northern Ireland – except for the rain! He is responsible for being my publicist and has been able to book appearances for me in local libraries to help promote my novels. My dream is to one day own a house by the sea, where I can sit and do my writing as I look out over the beautiful seascapes.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Revenge is the second book in the Bathville Books series and the whole series has been inspired by my love of police work, of interesting relationships between friends and partners and the chance to put a story out there that people will find interesting and entertaining
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write everything in long hand first and it MUST be in pencil. I also won’t start typing each session until I have won a hand of solitaire.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King is my diehard favourite author and his Pet Semetary novel is one I can read time and time again.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on updating Book 3 of the Bathville Book series, The Consequences. All stories start roughly about 6 months after the previous one left off and follows the lives of the same four main characters.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I find Facebook is the best because it can reach a lot of people at once, all over the world.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be patient. Set your bar high but be prepared for failure. Learn from your mistakes
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t ever give up.
What are you reading now?
Stephen King with Owen King’s Sleeping Beauties
What’s next for you as a writer?
To get all seven books ready for print. Two down, five to go.
