Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
At this time, I’ve published two steamy contemporary books in the SAY YOU WILL series; the third is due out in summer 2018. I’m also under contract for a historical book coming out in September 2018. I’ll be sending out free content and excerpts, so sign up for my newsletter if you want goodies! https://mailchi.mp/b6e9ee71b73f/ltuct7qyts
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
SAY YOU NEED ME is Janelle and Trent’s story. While it’s a standalone read, Janelle is Alyssa’s little sister from book one. I have a soft spot for “difficult” heroines. Janelle was so much fun to write, and her hero needed to be her total opposite. They push each other hard before getting to their HEA.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I use all the tricks: word sprints, deadline-do-or-die (those are the worst), outlining, snowflake methods, the works. Every project goes a little bit differently. I’m open to whatever keeps me writing.
What are you working on now?
I’m still enjoying the steamy contemporary and dirty rom-com romances. Book three in the Say You Will series – spoiler alert, the title is Say You’re Mine – will be out this summer. I have several projects on submission, so check my website for updates! https://carrielomax.com/
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think a broad strategy is the most holistic approach. I have yet to find a silver bullet.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing. Write the next book. Read deeply in your genre and broadly across other disciplines. Keep taking craft classes. We all have habits we have to learn and unlearn.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the next book.
What are you reading now?
Mia Sosa, Sarah MacLean, Helena Hunting, Tracey Livesay, Beverley Jenkins, Alyssa Cole, Victoria Dahl, Adriana Anders, Kate Clybourne…there’s a reason my TBR list only gets longer. There’s so many amazing and talented authors out there.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More books! I love writing
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d bring 3-4 solar-powered Kindles with libraries of classics, contemporary romance, historical romance, and mystery/crime/thrillers. Yes, I’m a cheating bookworm. I own it.
