Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my debut but this was what I was always meant to do. Even as a young child my parents and teachers often invited me to leave my imagination behind and join them. Horses are another passion. My enormous Friesian x Thoroughbred, named Mr Fantastic , doubles as my muse. In fact, I think all horses are muses.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Renascent World originally took shape in my dreams and I built on it from there. I loved writing the story and seeing it unfold as I followed Cassidy on her journey.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Often, when in the middle of a scene some idea hits into me and I have to start writing this scene for a new book. After writing two or three chapters I return to the f irst.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Actually, many, many authors inspired me in writing, but very few influenced and inspired me to write. Probably the earliest being J.R.R. Tolkien. But if we’re talking about who made me think that this was something I’d love to do, it was Stephenie Meyers’ THE HOST and Charlotte Bronte’s JANE EYRE.
What are you working on now?
Currently, my main focus is on the sequel to The Renascent World, titled The Renascent Children, but I have written a few chapters and the blurb for a new story with the working title, My Sacrifice.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
It’s a little too early for me to tell. At the moment I am testing many different mediums.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Right now, I’m still taking advice left-right- and-centre. Still, what I’d say to anyone wanting to write a book is ‘just do it’ because you never know you can until it’s done. Don’t give up and accept all criticism with gratitude because that is how you improve your craft.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you want to accomplish something great then keep it to yourself until it is done because chances are pretty good that you won’t complete something you talk about.
What are you reading now?
I am currently reading Onyx and Ivory by Mindee Arnett, Finale by Stephanie Garber and Shadow and Flame by Mindee Arnett. Mostly I listen to audiobooks but most of all I love to read a good, old fashioned paperback.
What’s next for you as a writer?
This question sends me into a state of excitement. All I want to do is write down all the stories flying around in my head. As I do, more and more characters and scenes crowd my mind. So ‘next’ is a rather broad term. I love, love, love f inding out what each seedling produces.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Ouch! Only 3 or 4? Full series in the case of the f irst two— Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, then I think Jane Eyre.
