Interview With Author Cécile Poyet
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I just finished writing and publishing my first book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called Reclaiming Life: From Burnout to Boundless. Back in September 2023, when the conflict in the Middle East intensified, I felt move to do my share to bring back peace into the world and help individuals cultivate their own inner peace. I have a one-year-old son: I want him to grow up in a loving world – beyond the walls of our home.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
My most productive time is in the morning, and I like to work for a few hours in a row, without interruption. As I write a book, I will often find myself so absorbed that I will get new ideas all the time, including at night. When an idea comes, I have to capture it. Once, we were on a tour at a national park in Thailand. I had left my phone on the boat, so I had to ask a local tour guide if he could lend me a piece of paper and pen so I could capture my thoughts. I knew I would forget them otherwise.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
– The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Singer
– The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible by Eisenstein
– Be Here Now by Ram Dass
– Everyday Grace: Having Hope, Finding Forgiveness, and Making Miracles by Marianne Williamson
What are you working on now?
Besides learning how to wing foil and promoting my current book, I am also starting to put ideas in place for my next book. It will be about the spirituality of money.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Amazon all the way. This company is a sales machine. I try to make sure my book page is sparkling, so I can drive conversions.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you’re thinking about writing a book, do it! Starting is the most difficult part.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t settle and be yourself!” That’s what my American mom would tell me when I would go on dates.
What are you reading now?
People Love Dead Jews: Reports from a Haunted Present by Dara Horn. It’s a difficult book to read but I felt compelled to educate myself on the Palestinian and Israeli conflict.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to talk about money because our entire world is built around it. I want to share my personal journey shifting away from the scarcity mindset and cultivating abundance in my life. There’s a huge spiritual component to money. It’s not talked about often enough.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Steve Jobs’ biography by Walter Isaacson because Jobs’ life was so complex, interesting and intense. The book itself is beautifully written.
