Interview With Author Celina Thompson
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I released my debut novel in this fall and was thrilled when it spent a couple days at #1 in Erotic Horror on Amazon. I am a disabled author with a number of invisible illnesses that make me a real life vampire—sunlight is painful, I can’t have garlic, and frequently need blood transfusions.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is called Sanctuary. It’s an erotic horror novel about vampires who get blood transfusions. I began writing while I was hospitalized with a blood clot in my brain. I was so frustrated with my medical trauma
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t write sequentially. I’ll get inspired and write a scene with no idea where it’ll end up. When I have a good number of scenes written I’ll put summaries of each scene on a note card and rearrange the cards until the story feels right. Finally I go back through and edit so it’s cohesive in the final order.
I also write entirely on my phone. Frequently utilizing the talk to text feature.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Sherrilyn Kenyon is my all time favorite! I don’t use bookmarks with her books. Once I pick one up, I don’t set it down until I’ve devoured the entire story.
What are you working on now?
Currently I’m crafting a reverse harem mafia horror romance. The first book should be out beginning of 2024.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Booktok!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Sometimes things have to go wrong in order to go right. —Sherrilyn Kenyon
What are you reading now?
I just finished Offside Hearts & now I’m re-reading The Warrior Princess Submissive.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My mafia trilogy is going to occupy my time for awhile. I’ve got some dementedly fun things planned for that.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Gone Girl, an omnibus (even if I have to Frankenstein it myself) of Louise Bay’s Royals Collection, a Frankenstein omnibus of Emma Slate’s Blue Angels MC Club, and the next Sherrilyn Kenyon book
